BlackJack in Vegas

Whats the best place to play Blackjack in vegas. I just want to play regular blackjack. Ive seen there is single deck, 2 deck , dealer hitting on 17 and so on. I just want to play your typical blackjack.

If you are not counting then penetration doen't matter so look for the best rules availble. DO NOT play games where blackjack pays 6:5, the house edge is significantly increased. I would look for a double deck games that stands on soft 17 and pays 3:2 for blackjacks. What table minimums are you comfortable with? Normally the higher limit tables offer the better rules. Will you be staying on the strip and/or have a car during your trip? The strip casinos will have higher limits and generally poorer rules than other off strip casinos. Current Blackjack News is a good starting point, it has a listing of all of the blackjack games across the country but sometimes the info is inaccurate.

I am only going to be there for a night and catching another flight , but i just wanted to play since ill be back in a few months. i play a lot here at home, but all I play is the traditional blackjack and that's what I want to play. what do I look for so i know its the traditional blackjack that i play here in at Atlantic City

You should be able to find lots of 8D, h17, DAS, BJ pays 3:2 games on the Strip with $25 minimums. I wouldn't call it "traditional" Blackjack, but I'm guessing that's what you are accustomed to in Atlantic City. It's hard to direct you if you don't say where you are staying, if you have a car, etc. There are better games than that, but it sounds like you're not ready to try something different until you come back and have more time.

What does 8D stand for 8 decks ?

And also what does H17 and DAS stand for ?

H17 - Dealer hits soft 17

DAS - Double After Split (is permitted)



Again, if you could say where you are going to be (on the strip, henderson, north LV, etc.), as well as what type of game you're hoping for (single deck, double deck, 6 deck, 8 deck, etc.) as well as table minimums (or what type of action you want to play, ie: $5 tables, $15 tables, $25 tables, $100 tables, etc.), then I'm sure someone will be able to help you out and find a good game to play.

In Las Vegas // Las Vegas area, you can find nearly any BJ game (rules-wise) imaginable....so saying "traditional blackjack" doesn't really quite cut it as a good description.

What I ment by traditional blackjack was 6-8 decks pays 3:2.

FWIW, here's my interpretation of "traditional" blackjack. Single deck, S17, DOA, DAS, dealt down to the last card. If anyone knows of a game that fits this description, please PM me.

My apologies if you're sensing some impatience. Trying to help... While it sounds like you have maybe been playing BJ for a while, it sounds like you are new to Advantage Play, and probably haven't had the chance to pick up any of the better books on BJ and Card Counting. I'll bet some of the words and acronyms you see in all these posts are sounding Greek to you.

To your original question, get a room at one of the hotels in the "center strip" e.g., Bellagio, Caesars, Harrah's, the Flamingo, Mirage, Planet Hollywood, Bally's, etc. from there you'll have walking access to a multitude of games, and if you're there mid week, the minimums on the multi-deck shoes will likely be in your range, but you will have to scout. Not knowing your betting level, whether you care about CSM's, whether you play Basic Strategy, etc., I'd say have at it and don't worry about where you play, so long as you get Double After Split, and BJ pays 3:2. Check it out, then go get a good book and read up on all the variations, and if you're serious, put a plan in place to learn. If you're just looking to have fun, don't worry about where the AC like games are. It won't make that big of a difference to you at your level.
