with a 250 br should i wong it or should i sit and play?
wong in ,play $25 at tc 2 ,but you make next to nothing ,prolly $3-4 /hr EV, .Oh if it's a really bad game then i would not even know the ev/hr. it 's not worth the effort but if you want to do it for fun or an experience then.... As long as it's ok with you ,it's all good. You have 10 bets for wong in , no raising bet .Play at tc2 and above without any increase ,wong out at tc 1 0r tc 0.As i said it's not worth it for the effort .How much does it cost you to get there??Ev minus the expenses ,it's very probable you lose time ,effort and money.!!
just to give you a more clear idea of how this game works, i've been doing it for almost 2 months now and i've learned to bring no less than 6,000 with me to play a $10 minimum table with no wonging.
i was practicing with my roommate at home and dropped to a low point of minus $3,300 dollars in one shoe playing with half the max bet i use at the casino. when deciding if u want to play with $250, think about it like this.
like stopgambling said, you'll be making 3-4 dollars per hour if u play perfectly and wong out at TC1. ask yourself if you'd take a second job at mcdonalds or some such if they told you that you'd get $4 dollars an hour but at anytime, there's a large possibility that someone will come up and rob you of your $250 plus any wages you've earned up to that point.
essentially that's a very accurate comparison to card counting.
if that doesn't sound like a good deal, then i would save up a lot more money to increase your max bet until your dollar per hour compared to risking your money makes a little more sense.
If $250 is all you got, and you're considering it replenishable, then I see you treating it like a one time entertainment expense. You might as well find the lowest minimum game (hopefully less than $25) and just play all, get the most live counting practice you can and hope for a run of positive variance. You don't say what kind of game it is, so it's hard to recommend a spread. If you're worried at all about losing the $250, you should not play. Save up a larger bank, and then come back and play.
Alternatively, back count until you have a 2% advantage bet $80 or $125 and hope for a double down. Your goal will be to increase your BR to something actually useful or bust out trying. If you're a good poker player you'd probably be better off playing Hold-Em. Or use your BR on a loss rebate type of promotion. There are many casinos that have rebates of $250 or more for new players. Go take a shot at those (essentially a free roll) before risking your money straight up.
