I don't have it in front of me but I read an article about scavenger plays and I am pretty sure that you are at a disadvatage with a 7 vs 5 even though it sounds like a good hand that most people would buy off of you. I will have look it up when I get home, work computer = gambling web site restrictions :-(

The author Fred Renzey posts on this forum so you should be a little respectful about his book. I haven't read it so I can't say if it good or not but I know he is respected in the BJ community and is a solid contributor when he does post here.

There are less ethical savenger bets that seem like you are helping out the other player but they really are only helping you out, i.e. selling one of your 7's on a 7, 7 vs 5. Those opportunities exist but they are few and far between sometimes.

Ah! I had heard of "scavenger betting". Renzey mentioned it in his book and termed it "hand interaction". It involved filling-in other people's doubles, pawning off some of your splits, etc.

    Thanks, DM21.

Everyone must do what they are comfortable with, imo pawning off splits is unethical and preying on others stupidity like a casino would.

I agree, I am not a fan of scavenger plays. I have jumped in on some doubles for less when opportunity arose but I don't seek them out. Buying and selling splits seem kind of shiesty to me and can give you a hustler's persona. I'd rather give up that EV for being thought of as unassuming player.

you also have to keep in mind that if you should never bet more than 1/3 of what you have on you because of the doubling and splitting factor.

I seldom do scavenger plays. It could be a source of unnecessary attention. I just mentioned that Renzey included some of those in his book.
