JMorgan: Fun Fact: What's the ...

    closest BS play?

Given standard combinations of rules (DOA/D10, DAS/noDAS, S17/H17, LS/noLS, 1/2/6/8-decks), what is the closest BS play? For instance, hitting hard 16 against a T up is a close play, compared to the next best alternative of standing. But what's the closest?

Kyle Sever: Is it 6,2 vs 5 in sd, h17? *NM*

That was Griffin's choice, before we found a better one!

The question is not very clear. Do you mean the closest among all # of decks, rules, etc.? or the closest for each set of rules? Total-dependent or Composition-dependent?
For instance: T,2 vs 4, 8D, S17 is a good candidate but for that set of rules.

I think the poster with 6-2 against the 5 was close but I thought it was to double the 5-3 in single.Willi.

There's one which beats them all. I will wait until Monday or Tuesday before posting it.

    Cacarulo

PS: I assumed that the answer is among all # of decks and typical rules.

Kyle Sever: Another guess: 8,7 vs 10 in 8 deck, H17, LS *NM*

Yes. Pick your rules and number of decks. Any combination is valid, and, clearly, we are talking about a c-d play.

    98%: A8 vs. 6?

I was under the impression that the decision to stand or double on A8 vs. 6 in a S17 game with one deck was very close (based purely on EV, of course).

    A2 vs 5.

Ok. That's the correct answer but it is not complete. Under which set of rules is your assumption valid?
