bfbagain: A question on sims for Norm

Norm, it's not clear to me how to run a sim for a specific shuffle. As I go through the CVData screens, I select Real Shuffle, total players=4, 1000 rds/m, 6 decks, 91 cards (70%) pen.....set the rules, e.g., dlr peeks on 10/A, H17, keep basic for players 1,4 and set strategy for player 2 and 3 (this in an attempt to model playing two hands), set same approach for betting, and again for TC calcs, and then on to nuances.

For session barriers I used (default? with slight change)session br of 1000, session target=2000, and session length=400, then on to Shuffling.

Here I set precision to "as defined", open and select the shuffle I'm using, and then to "cut."

Here is where I'm stumped. The options are 1) Random Cut, 2) No Cut, 3)Cut at %, 4) Cut to First Ace

There isn't (at least I couldn't find it) any help for the cut options. Defining where to place the cut card seems to be pretty important in running a shuffle sim.

Can you define those options for me, and maybe offer some advice on running sims for ST? Maybe my expectation (very likely) is in error here.

    much obliged.

CVData V3 does not sim shuffle-tracking. The shuffle logic is only for the purposes of examining the effect of shuffles on normal BJ play. In the past I had decided not to make ST sim capabilities public. I changed my mind a few months ago after the absurd attacks on McDowell's book. However, it will be awhile before this is available. ST sims aren't all that hard in of of themselves. The tough part is designing a user interface that is flexible enough to define all possible methods of tracking.

I remember this. I thought that this was part of the new updates, thus, my questions. Not yet, huh.

Any beta, as I would certainly help.

There's always a beta. But, there is another product coming out first.

Some time ago, you posted that you had the Casino Verite manual reprinted. Does it contain documrntation of updsates since v3 was released? If so, then how much does the new manual cost?

ES: Will v4 be the tournement version?

What other changes will be made? Cost to v3 owners?

No they will be separate products. The Tournament editon will be very different.

    > What other changes will be made?

Too early to announce. I will say that I hope to close in on a long-term desire. Evaluation of a player's actual edge and risk.

    >Cost to v3 owners?

Probably less than the V2 to V3 upgrade.

    ES: Further Q

Will Evaluation of a player's actual edge and risk be in the game, i.e. CV, rather then in the simulator, CV Data?

Not yet designed. The idea is to examine the actual play in CVBJ and transfer the info to the simulator including cover play and error rates.
