    chgobjpro: Index play question

    My new true count indexes were calc'd by SBA using the floored method.
    Please explain if the phrase "to the left of the index" means that even 1 running count to the left of the true you change the play from the index play or you wait till the next full true?

    I'm confused by your wording, but here's what is meant by "hitting on the left," if that's your question:

    after dividing the rc by remaining decks, if your TC isn't equal or greater than the index, go with the correct play for the "left" side of the numberline.

    example: Index number = 4, RC = +19, 5 decks remaining.
    TC = 19/5 = 3.8; therefore hit.

    In other words, do not round up to 4 and decide (assuming a standard hit/stand decision) to stand. . . hit even at a TC of 3.99999. Note that this results in exactly the same outcomes as flooring, it's really just another way to think about the same thing. . .

    I think your example was to the right of the index, I'm sorry, I was talking neg indexes.

    example: My index number for the 9 vs 4 Double = -3,
    RC = -16, 5 decks remaining.
    TC = -16/5 = -3.1; therefore do I only hit now ( I'm slightly to the left)or still double until the true gets to -4?

    Negative floored indices:

    TC -3 equals something between [-2.1 and -3]

    Therefore you should hit your hand.

    Cacarulo: Another way of seeing it

    would be mentally representing a scale like the following:

    Table of Floored TCs
    --------------------

    +3 --+
    |
    +---> +2.5 ---> Floored ---> +2 -->+
    | |
    +2 --+<<-------------------------------<+
    |
    |
    |
    +1 --+
    |
    +---> +0.5 ---> Floored ---> 0 -->+
    | |
    0 --+<<-------------------------------<+
    |
    |
    |
    -1 --+
    |
    +---> -1.5 ---> Floored ---> -2 -->+
    | |
    -2 --+<<-------------------------------<+
    |
    |
    |
    -3 --+
    |
    +---> -3.5 ---> Floored ---> -4 -->+
    | |
    -4 --+<<-------------------------------<+

    As you can see, you always pick the lower bound.

    Sincerely,
    Cac
