    pm: Surveillance question

If surveillance is scrutinizing your play, can they generally determine exactly how much you're betting on every hand? Or do they ballpark it...what do they do?

I have a connection in that area and he says the following.

They have NO trouble seeing cards EXACTLY as they appear.

He said the problem they experience is in facial recognition. He told me half of the time they don't know who's who unless it's really obvious.

I was asking about how they show it on the show Vegas.

He started to laugh and said, "not even close, we wish it was that good".

    I hope that helps

Hey, thanks a bunch for the info. I've actually never seen Vegas; I don't know what they portray on the show.

I had read the same thing in Cellini's book about them being able to clearly see every card; I think he says something about how they can read the serial number on a dollar bill that's lying on the ground.

Do you happen to know if they can make an accurate determination of your bet size though? I can't see how they could with a strictly top-down view.....would they check from other angles or something? What do they do when they're scrutinizing your play, how do they figure out your spread and what not if they can't see your bet size?

I know for sure that it's possible for them to screw it up...one time after I lost a hand, I absent-mindedly picked up my bet before the dealer could collect it. It was a one-chip bet, but the dealer checked with surveillance and they told him it was a two-chip bet, so I know they jacked that one up. Maybe they were just sending me a message though

(Apologies if I was supposed to be reading between the lines in your post, I'm dense about that sometimes.)

No problem, nothing between the lines at all.

He said, They can tell EXACTLY how much you are betting.

He said they do it 2 ways, they can zoom in so close, that it's as though they are sitting with you.

And secondly, they zoom from side angles also.

I hope it helps you a little.

Cool, thanks again. I guess I knew that had to be the case; just wanted to confirm.
