HOLLYWOOD: 2 cute things happened this weekend.
I'm in AC sunday night. 3 of us in the pit.
Dealer has 3 showing. Guy at first base has 18.
Guy in the middle has 14.
I'm sitting at 3rd pat with a 20.
After taking 3 cards to add up to a hard 17, the dealer takes another card (picture) and breaks. You could hear a pin drop. The guy at first and myself would have won either way. The guy in the middle gets paid $300.00. The pit boss who was watching this game was giving a guy at the next table a marker.
So now the fun starts. The cards are cleared and the dealer deals. The guy at first base gets a 15 and says he don't want it. Pit boss comes over and he tells the story about the dealer hitting the 17 and that should be his 10. The pit boss backed the cards off the table and into the discard tray to see what he was talking about.
By the way, the first base guy had a $500.00 bet.
Can anyone guess the result?

During another session, i'm playing head to head.
Now I don't know if this ever happens to you, but sometimes when I am playing head to head and the dealer is moving a bit quick I make sure I keep my count solid, but I sometimes lose the numbers of what the dealer has in multiple card hands. In which case I stop everything and simply ask.
Well in this case I had a 4 card 18. The dealer took 5 cards and took my money. I said "excuse me, but didn't I have 18 also" he backed the cards out (with a pit boss watching) and low and behold we both had 18.
But that's not the best part of the story. He went back in the tray to give me my money back and gave me $200.00.
I only had a $100.00 bet.
Can you imagine, all under the pit boss supervision, WITH AN APOLOGY. Go figure.

What should have happened was that everyone got screwed. They reconstitute the first hand, and the guy in the middle loses. They take back his winnings and his bet. But, I wonder if they had the balls to ask him for double the money back.
Then, as you can never back up a card, the ten does NOt go to the guy at first base; rather, because it was exposed, it gets buried.
Curious to see what they actually did.

Dealer are human; they make mistakes. When they make enough of them, they get promoted to pit boss! :-)

Don that was funny about the promotion thing.
But anyway they did not have the balls to ask the guy in the middle to return the money they paid him by mistake.
And they reshuffled. We got to start all over again.
