    shyboy: downtown ?

Are there still a couple of single deck 3:2 games left? There were in May, although that's when the GN switched theirs to 6:5.

There are still a few, although single deck has been added to the Endangered Species list, at at least in Las Vegas.

Binion's has a couple of single deck tables, although they are not always open. Be careful - they have 6:5 tables as well.

Four Queens has two single deck tables, with at least one usually open. These tend to be crowded.

The (Las) Vegas club occasionally has one or two tables open, although lately they have a nasty habit of shuffling after every round if there are more than 4 players at the table, combined with a truly paranoid pit.

Speaking of paranoid pits, the El Cortez still offers single deck.

The Western has some playable single deck, and it isn't quite as dumpy as it used to be, although it will never be mistaken for Bellagio. Walking there from the Fremont St. Experience after dark can be a bit of an adventure.

Finally, the Gold Spike still has a table or two of single deck, with low mins and a truly toxic atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the dearth of single deck games means that counters tend to congregate at the remaining ones. As a result, all of these games are watched quite closely.

If I were purely looking to play good single deck games, I would skip Vegas and go to Reno.

Of course, there are other reasons to visit Las Vegas. :-)

All these years and perhaps I was mistaken.
I always thought that the Freemont Street experience was the walk to the Western.

    Jay: Stayed Downtown Last Month

Since the old Shoe & LV Club $5 single deck games that were so playable disappeared, I added double deck to my repertoire. There are a lot more options open to you downtown for DD with less scrutiny. Between the places Parker mentioned and the other casinos with $5 DD, you can spread your action around in short sessions to avoid detection.

You might also want to look into SuperFun 21. A few casinos downtown offer it, but you need to learn a different basic strategy and spread big to beat it. Wizard Of Odds has the strategy, and there's a sim at the below link to practice.

    Good Luck.
