Freddie: Wireless Internet
THis is an off topic question, but is there free wireless access on the strip or in the area? I know the McCarran and Clack COunty Library does. Anywhere else?

See below...I don't think I would use a casino's internet for anything!

This is a great link, which I have added to my bookmarks.
Broadband is one of those modern conveniences that I wonder how I ever survived without. I feel really inconvenienced when I am forced to use a dialup connection in a hotel.
Broadband access is not as common in Las Vegas hotels as in some other areas. I guess they want you out in the casino rather than in your room surfing the web. As you mention, even if a hotel offers broadband, there are security concerns.
I had been hitting Starbuck's and paying for Wifi access. I knew about the airport, but did not realize that there were so many other free hotspots around Vegas.

The connection isn't normally very good in the hotels I've stayed in there anyway. And at the rates the strip hotels charge during the season, they really shouldn't tack on $10 a day for swhat should be a basic service anyway.
I was surprised at my last trip though. I stayed at the Aladdin; and my room not only had an Internet connection (which I did have to pay for by the day); but it actually had a computer. Had I not brought my laptop, I could still have surfed the web for $10 a day in the room.
