    Jack Fate: 6 card burn.

A friend of mine returned from Vegas last week. She told me she was at the Flamingo checking out the MindPlay tables and saw the dealers burning 6 cards at the start of a new shoe. When asked, the dealer wouldn't say anything. She called over the pit critter who told her they had to do that because "the computer won't function" otherwise.

First we had the "Harrahs cut", now we've got the "Flamingo 6 card burn".

That is just ridiculous. One can only presume that the players were about to get dealt a bunch of hot hands and win on the first round....so Mindplay told the dealer to burn the first 6 cards.

Totally disgraceful. I wonder what the house edge is under these conditions? Not that it matters as I will never play on one of their tables, but it seems to be nothing more nor less than cheating.

Jack Fate: Just for the hell of it...

Someone needs to stop in there, buy in at the beginning of a shoe at a full table, and ask to see the burn cards.

Wong and his army of "dice controllers" from craps table to craps table betting with the shooter, the amazing WongMeister!

Vegas BJ is getting to be such a joke, outright cheating and mostly bad games being fed by ignorant tourists.

at the Longhorn on Boulder. They'll pull out the top card, look at the value, and then burn that number of cards. As you can imagine, they were burning ten cards most of the time. I haven't been back there in two years so maybe they still do it.

The shoe game at the San Remo (soon to be Hooters Casino) used to burn 6 cards off the top. They would often make up for it with a somewhat deeper cut so it didn't really matter, unlike the Longhorn.

And last, but certainly not least, is the famous Fitzgerald's DD game where they burn a quarted-deck before the first deal. Sure, they stick the cut card at 70% but then they burn the top quarter-deck. You're still left with a mediocre game, but you wouldn't notice unless you saw the burn.

Still, that mindplay move sounds a little suspicious. I think it?s best to avoid it altogether.

bfbagain: You missed the point I suspect

This was a "MindPlay21" table, where it is a known fact that the cards are read prior to dealing.

I doubt seriously that they woild burn six cards if the table said the dealer was holding a blackjack.

This is not complicated! These are cheating tables, run and used by cheating casinos, with the permission of a corrupt government.

    End of story!

Then simply the question should be, do they burn 6 cards everytime or just this time? If it is just this time, then the reason is obvious, Mindplay told them too. If everytime, it is just the same pure paranoia and greed that brought Mindplay into the Flamingo in the first place.
First off: We all know not to play Mindplay machines. Buy in, notice the gizmo and leave with a comment, is something we all should do.

As far as a 6 card burn goes. I have played hand shuffled shoes with this that were decent. One house had several dealers who only cut a deck, then they burned six hards, so you just figure another 2% additional lack of penetration for those cards. Since they always picked all 6 up at once, from certain seats you could see 1 or 2 of the cards also.

Someone should. If it is their normal burn, no problem, if selective then a lawsuit like that against the El Dorado and tons of unread letter to the Nevada rubber stamp commission.

Otherwise, the Flamingo is a place that every player, counter and ploppy should avoid like the disease it is. Their game was not a good game that counters might want to take advantage of, their game was actually fairly weak. They installed Mindplay not so much for game protection but to make sure they could cut the comps of every blackjack player. Also, to probably cut a few of their PC's. So if that is what they think of you, even the ploppy player, avoid the place.
Soon it will be Harrah's, so guess what folks? It gets worse.
The Flamingo is dead, if it is not Buggsy would kill it.
Victoria, lover of all that is Harrah's, RIP Caesar's, I'll miss you.

If you lay down with dogs, don't be surprised when you get fleas....:-)

I've enjoyed Caesars over the years. But really, when you think about it, fairly, they're made for each other. A match made on planet Flim Flam.
