    litcrit: Binions

Now that Harrah's has released the downtown casino, has anyone noticed any changes? Has anyone even gone in there recently? I'm due to spend a week downtown in July, and am curious to see if it will be worth my time. It certainly hasn't been for the last couple years.

Have not been there but have heard that real 3/2 single deck is back. Do not know the penetration but seeing that it is no longer run by Harrah's it is probably worth a look.

Haven't been there yet myself, but I have heard that they have brought back a few 3:2 single deck games, although the 6:5 crap is still around.

I also heard that they are re-installing grills in the snack bars, which would be a huge improvement, although I don't know if this has actually been done.

It has got to be better -- I don't see how it could possibly get any worse.

I was there about a two weeks ago, and they do indeed have 3:2 single deck, $10. minimum. I usually play 2 deck, but there were several opportunities over the course of a few days to play heads up, or with one other person, so what the hey! Of course, there were times when the tables were full, and they were shuffling every hand, so I stayed away.
They also have a pretty decent 2 deck $10. minimum game.
Speaking of single deck, I was in the Las Vegas Club in the early AM, and they had a 3:2 single deck game open, with no one playing, so I played heads up for almost an hour. When I went later in the day, there were no single deck games at all! It was like this for several days.
The LV Club has a good 2 deck game, and now that they're owned by Barrick, I'm hoping that they adopt the same 2 deck rules that they use at the Plaza, mainly S17, and the discard tray slot to determine the shuffle card.

    Thanks for the info.

Are the DD games at Binion's and LVC DAS?

Hmm. It's going to take a while for me to stop referring to Binion's as the "'Shoe." For that matter, I guess that LVC should now simply be referred to as "VC."

Yes, the DD games I played at Binion's were DAS. I think the Las Vegas Club was DAS also. (I usually try to avoid the nDAS games, of which there are a few downtown.) In any case, as I said in my earlier post, I would think the LVC would adopt the Plaza's rules eventually, which for 2 deck include DAS. They already have virtually identical Players Club cards now, although you still need one for the Plaza, and another for the LVC, because of a 'glitch in the computer'.

I played Binions on April 11, 12 & 13. Yes indeed the 3:2 SD is back. Early in the morning there is one $5 table (mid-week) and there a several $10 and one $25 table (mid-week.

But it gets better. They have hired a rash of new dealers who obviously haven't been given their marching orders yet because we consistently got 3 rounds, sometimes 4, to 4-5 players.

I got paid on 2 pushes and and saw at least 3 other player-favorable payoff errors in one morning session. I had 2 "first dayers" in one session.

There is still at least one 6:5 SD out front to catch the passers-by on Fremont and several DD games and a couple shoe games. I best I could tell everything was DAS.

I'm a red chipper and when I walked with $222 profit from just one session you know things were falling right.

    Weak dealers:
Though we all appreciate knowing about dealers who deal too many rounds, or make payouts on pushes or better let you see their hole card, I think it is better to not put this information on a public board.
Casino types do look at this board and when you give definate information such as which casino, you are shortening the life of this advantage.

in that case, there are over 95%of casinos in las vegas alone that have the toughest rules and dealers that you should avoid them alltogether, and stop playing blackjack. Go to mississippi instead. Vegas blackjack, even downtown sucks, especially at the Golden Nugget, Binions, LVC, and definitely at the stuffy, heat-infested Plaza! i doubt Wynn will be any improvement either.

There you go. Since casino people don't understand sarcasm you have made the situation better.

Way to throw them off the scent.

Posts that mention casino specifics need to be busted!

    Brick: Agree.

I often wonder why some self-proclaimed card counters often post info like this on the internet. They obviously know casino lurkers are all over the net.

The post definitely contained more specifics than I like to see, and I came very close to taking it down.

However, break-in dealers make mistakes, and even the most clueless pit critter knows that without having to read it here. Opportunities such as these are going to be brief and fleeting, regardless of whether or not they are discussed here.
