Just a few words of caution.

I like to play BJ with a bankroll that yields 1% risk of ruin, thats about 100 times my max bet.
I.E. $6,000 for $5 min 6-Deck, I.E. $4,000 for $5 min 2-Deck. You need to spread at least 12 to 1 for 6-deck and 8 to 1 for 2-Deck. If you play all hands and do not backcount. Warning, if you spread more, and you play at the same Casino too long, you willeventually get backed off. I never play more than one hour per shift per Casino per week, when I visit Vegas. Other ways to get backed off
or have the dreaded checks play called, jumping back and forth between playing one and two hands,
all of a sudden betting green at a red-chip table,
spliting 10s. Don't do these plays. Also, don't try sweat talking the Dealer in to giving you better penetration. It may work for a while but
it will come back to bite you. Finnaly, be very supisious if they switch the dealer on you, or all of a sudden halve the penitration.

Learn to play poker! It's more social and I think
at times you can make better money. But be versitile. Play both BJ and Poker.

At the risk of making this thread too long I'll summarize that I've settled on trying to stay at 6deck s17 shoes with good penetration, though it might mean a limited venue of play. I'lm going with a $2 - $50 bet ramp until I feel confident in all my strategy. I'm not sure what the win rate is, but i think I run a 33% chance of going down a thousand dollars, with which I am quite comfortable.

thank you for your advice, i look forward to absorbing more.

I wonder, what are the chances that, having been suspected of being a counter, my name is entered in some list. And what are the long-term repercussions of such a thing.

It depends what suspected means. But when they
are reasonbly certain, then for sure you will be
put on a list and possibly be prohibited from
playing in any casino among which that list is shared. It is not clear when or if your name will come off a list. If I think I've been made
I skip at least a year from playing in that casino.

Haha. I could see me writing posts just like this. I'm young myself, and have been thinking about moving out to Nevada. Not to get rich playing BJ, mind you, it's just that I have no kids, no steady girl and nothing really keeping me here in the midwest. Vegas especially, seems like a place I would love to go. From what I've read, there are TONS of opportunities for small stakes players to make a little extra dough here, get a cheap meal there, etc...

Who knows, in a year or so maybe I'll be the one out in Vegas all alone asking the same questions as AG. Good luck, man.
