Bettie: Need Info on IP Rooms, Please

Anyone ever stay at the Imperial Palace? I need to know what the rooms are like, mostly if they are at least good and clean. I have friends who, due to circumstances beyond their control, will probably have to stay there and they asked me to find out for them.

    Thanks for any help,
    Bettue

Use the cheapovegas link below. There are critiques of almost every hotel/motel and the attached casinos and food outlets. They critique the IP as adequate, with certain reservations and recommendations for room selections.

Historically, I have found their reviews and recommendations to usually be correct.

Yeah, I already checked that out (I love that site), but was hoping that someone could give me some real info on the cleanliness of the rooms.

    Thanks!

The rooms I've stayed in there were clean - just plain and dated (looks like the 70s). There have been horror stories but I haven't experienced anything bad in 4 visits.
Just remember to use the elevators in back - they are slow and always packed.

Mr. X: Flamingo Capri/ Imperial Palace

On my very first Vegas trip, in the 70's, me and 4 high school/college friends crammed into one room at the Flamingo Capri. The Flamingo Capri is long gone (few people even remember it), but their "garden apartment" rooms we stayed at are still there, as part of the Imperial Palace. If you get a real cheap rate, you could very possibly get those FC rooms from the 70's.
I stayed at IP once. It was not bad, about average. Most people with low expectations ask if the rooms are "clean". In all my time in Vegas, I can only think of 2 hotels that did not fit that minimum...the (very misnamed) Palace, which used to be next to The Boulevard near downtown on the Strip (the saying was, you are safe from fire there, if a fire starts, the cockroaches will just carry you away) and Ferguson's, down a couple blocks from the luxorious Western. The Western was indeed luxorious compared to Ferguson's. It was a terrible room. And pretty darn expensive on the weekend night I was there. It was like the furniture had not been replaced since the 50's. It was awful.

I stayed there about a month ago. The room was fine, but I won't be returning any time soon. The parking is horrendous. To get from my room to my car took over 30 minutes on two different occasions. I traversed 2 elevators (extremely slow elevators with literally dozens of people waiting for them) and no less than 4 staircases to get there. There are no signs anywhere to tell you where to go. With all the construction going on, it's a human rat maze.

I've stayed at IP several times over the last 18 months The rooms were always clean and good sized( for a hotel of that age) though dated. If you want extra towels be patient. The elevators are terminally slow. The main buffet is barely fit to eat, flavorless and greasy, the teahouse is slightly better, food comps are easy to be had. Unless you check in late upgrades to better rooms can be had for the asking, at check in. A caution, the rooms facing the strip are right above Harrahs outdoor bar & constantly noisy
