Bettie: Mystere to stay at TI

Well, it looks like the TI will be signing on Mystere for a new 5-year contract. TI had given serious thought to doing away with the show as part of it's new image since the show's original 10-year contract was up, but it seems they decided that there were enough changes happening already.

Don't forget to see the original Pirate Battle at TI before July 6th, when the show closes to make way for "The Sirens of TI" in October.

That is great news regarding Mystere'...I enjoy this show much more than 'O'. Mystere' and Blue Man Group are my 2 favorite Vegas "big" shows.

That's good news. "Mystere" is wonderful, as are all of the Cirque shows. I'm looking forward to "Zumanity" in August at NYNY...

    Norm Wattenberger: A story

Some years back there was a woman (I forget her name) that had written her Masters thesis on the modern circus. But, she had never seen ?O.? A friend told her about it and she took the trip. Post-show, she spent that entire night sobbing in her room because she had never seen anything so beautiful. She decided that night to get her PHD and to write the thesis on Cirque du Soleil. But, she had to know more. So, she requested interviews with the managers. They flatly turned her down. So, she literally ?joined the circus.? Not as a performer, but in the ticket office. She spent a season with the troop ? eating with them, traveling with them, dancing in the bars with them. At the end of the season, management asked if she wanted to work the next season. She demurred. She then told the staff that she was just spying for her thesis. The staff apparently was delighted ? but not management. Anyhow, I believe she did write the thesis. And like most, it?s buried in some university file cabinet. But not everyone can say they ran away and joined the circus in their youth.

I can't find the exact quote, but one of the directors/producers/whatever for Zumanity said they would explore straight, gay, bi, drag, and transvestite lifestyles in the show. Sure to be a hit.
