You suggested we take in some of the local talent on our next trip and I think that is a great idea!
Where are your favorite lounges and which nights are best?
Is the lounge at the Mirage any good? It looked like a nice place and the band seemed OK as we were walking by.
Does the Plaza still have the Omaha lounge and are the bands still any good? It's been a loooong time.

There used to be a lounge at Caesar's off of the small high-roller pit with a terrific male singer who did true lounge music. It was closed for remodeling and I have yet to be back to see if it has reopened. Also, I hear really good things about the guy who does Sinatra at his lounge in the MGM. It's in one of the restaurants - The Brown Derby, I believe.

I do like the Mirage's bands, but don't care for the lounge itself. Just a personal preference. The Bellagio has Jimmy Hopper on most nights at the Fontana, and he is a really great singer and also a very nice guy. I also like the Tropicana's lounge, off to the right of the main entrance through the guest elevators. It's away from the casino and the bands are less polished, making it kind of fun to see some beginners. If you like R&B or jazz/blues, then head to the Stratosphere off of the blackjack pit in the back. They have some high-energy performers and the crowds are usually thin, though they shouldn't be.

Oh yes - that's where I make it a point to stop and see the SunDrops - the Country Western Filippinos! I'm not sure what their schedule is, as they share the stage with 2 other bands, but I have never seen an empty seat when they are on the stage! You have to appreciate true entertainment kitsch to enjoy them, though!

The singer was Andrew James and I don't know where he is currently working. zg
