    Bettie: Looking for a Steakhouse

Okay, I'm hoping someone out there can guide to me a steakhouse that has good food and is reasonably priced ($20 per person without drinks). Normally, I wouldn't care about the price so much, but I'm feeding about 15 people and need to keep the cost down a bit.

Another kind of restaurant is fine, too, as long as they have good steaks. Thanks much!

The prudent thing to do is to wait for Parker to respond because I know he likes steaks and could give you a list of places including a brief history of the restraunt!

    But...this is an interactive site...

Beforte I started eating at the steakhouse at the Horseshoe, Delmonicos at the Venetian and the 9 Steakhouse at the Palms, I always got a good steak for $20 at the Outback across from Rio.

With a group this size, I would call around to places you like and talk to banquet managers. Rather than order off the full menu, your guests will usually have a choice of 2 or 3 entrees (steak or seafood, or chicken). In addition, you may get a private room.

This way, you may be able to go somewhere that would be above your price range if the guests were to order off the regular menu.

Are your guests locals or out-of-towners? If they are out-of-towners, you might want somewhere with a view, or with a bit of Las Vegas history. For locals, this would be less important.

The price is limiting, but I would certainly call Binion's Steak House and talk to them. You simply cannot beat the combination of view and great steaks.

Other possibilities would be Embers at the Imperial Palace or the Steak House at Circus-Circus.

If your guests are out-of-towners, you might consider Center Stage at the Plaza. While I have never been very impressed with the overall quality of the food here, they do grill an acceptable steak, and the prices are extremely reasonable, not much higher than coffee shop fare. And of course, you get an awesome view of the Fremont Street Experience.

Just don't order anything fancy. :-)

    Bettie,
If your looking for good steaks at a decent price and a great view, try The Range at Harrah's. They are right around the $20 range.

I kind of forgot to mention that I can't have this function inside a casino, which ruled out nearly every suggestion. I'll be holding onto them for future reference for myself, though!

We decided to go old-school Vegas and go with the Peppermill. As many of the people coming are out-of-towners, I thought it would be fun. So, now I'm looking for suggestions on what is good to eat there!

BTW, since I brought up the subject of steakhouses, try Austin's in the Texas Station - it is so yummy and elegant, too.

    Thanks much,

Um, that's kinda significant, don't you think? :-)

Since I have this aversion to actually paying for food (or much of anything else) while I am in Las Vegas, most of the places where I eat are located in casinos.

Since this is, after all, a website for advantage players, I suspect that this would be true for most of us.

However, this would have been one of my suggestions had I known. It is one of the few non-casino restaurants at which I have actually eaten.

Unfortunately I've never eaten dinner there, so I can't really make any recommendations. All their breakfasts are great! :-)

Their lounge is quite cozy as well, if you want to socialize a bit before sitting down for dinner.

Yeah, yeah, I know. My bad!

Agreed, for sure, and - as I said - I'll definitely be hitting all of the mentioned places. My S.O. is a huge steakhouse kind of guy. A good steak makes his eyes glaze over like you wouldn't believe! I don't even attempt conversation while he's eating a steak.

I can't believe I haven't been there yet. As an avowed Vegasophile, I am truly ashamed of myself!

You can get anything 24-7 though, right? I mean, if I wanted an omelet at 5pm, it's no problem? Or do they have certain times for certain menus?

Oh yeah! The plan is going to be dinner with the whole crowd, and then those who have to leave the next day can take off while the rest of us hang out and get more than a little tipsy.

    Again, thanks to all!

learning to count: You want an adventure?

Yolies Brazilian steak house: $26 a head; All you can eat. The meal starts with a salad and great bread. Then they come with a skewer of sausages; then chicken, then turkey, Then pork loin; then tri-tip, then sirloin, then lamb. Incredible. Then after that they offer the skewers again and again. Nice restuarant. Excellent service. Your crowd will be well fed. Its on Paradise if I can remember just south of I believe Harmon. Minutes from the strip. They have a small assortment of traditional deserts. The brazialian Flan is incredible just like my grandma makes when she is off her diet. They are in the Book.

Oh yeah, we looked at that place. It's in the same complex as my bank, so I've always wondered about it. Sounds great! I'll have to make it a point to go there real soon - thanks!

learning to count: I am not lying on this one I go there every trip!

I have taken friends and family there and they have all given the food five stars, the atmosphere is 4 stars, the decore 4 Stars I guess you could call it euro-restuarant style. Kind of what i call second hand elegance. Like they bought all the decore out of a second hand shop.
