    AutomaticMonkey: CV under Linux/WINE

    Has anyone tried it yet?

I'd like to get a small laptop for travel running Linux, but I never go anywhere without CVData! If I can run CV somehow, a Linux machine is more reliable and will do everything I need it to do on the road.

I have been unable to get CV products to run under WINE on my Debian system. However, others have reported success, on Ubuntu in particular.

What I did instead was install VirtualBox and then run Windows XP as a virtual machine. This works just fine and allows me to run any Windows ap I want, so I have pretty much stopped fooling around with WINE.

However, if by "small laptop" you mean a netbook, this might not be an option, as running a virtual machine is fairly CPU and memory intensive.

Small Player: Not a direct response, but

I have been running CV Data 5 on a Windows 7 Starter netbook without any problems.

    Parker: Sure

CV products are not particularily resource-intensive, and will run just fine on a netbook running Windows natively.

It may take a little longer to sim several billion hands. :-)

However, virtualization programs such as VirtualBox are another matter entirely.
