    MJ: CVCX Calculator/Goal Widget Discrepancy

    Norm,

I was experimenting with the calculators and I discovered something that was rather odd. I find that the first Goal calc, the Prob of Reaching Goal Given a Time Constraint, does not match the percentages provided by the Goals widget.

Input 60 hands/hr into CVCX with the spinner. Set a goal of say $1k. Just go through the motions and note the respective percentages the Goals widget spits out. Now, at 5 hours, that is 300 hands. Input 300 hands into the aforementioned calc and the percentages for the calc and widget do not match up!!

I figured out the problem. Your Goals widget assumes 100 hands/hr, despite what you input as hands/hr into the field with the spinner. The percentages only match up when you input 100 hands/hr with the spinner.

Now, if the Goals widget assumes 100 hands/hr, then that assumption should be made clear; unfortunately it isn't.

The second Goal calc works just fine.

No the Goal Widget takes hands/hour from your setting. The outside 'Prob of Reaching Goal Given a Time Constraint' calculator assumes 100 hands for win rate and SD and says so clearly. Perhaps I could change the loading of those fields or maybe even change the definition of the fields to per hand instead of per hour. Or use the HpH setting on the main screen in the calculator screens to make it more clear. Originally these were meant to be stand alone calculators; not integrated like the widgets. It'll take some thought.

    Ok I see that.

That sounds like a good idea. Right now it is confusing and definitions should be same the same.

Integration is the way to go! :-)
