    Norm Wattenberger: CVData requests

CVData V4 is not due out until next year. But, I will be working on the promotions/rebates/coupons section early for my own purposes. If anyone would like to see any of these areas analyzed, please post or e-mail coupon or rebate particulars. For that matter, this would be a good time to request any additions/changes.

    1. Ability to do basic strategy sims using fine points like stand on 16 v. 10 with 3 or more cards or stand on 16 v. 10 if any of your cards is a 4 or a 5.

    2. Ability to calculate basic strategy and count strategies for double exposure.

    3. Ability to calculate basic strategy and count strategies for double exposure.

    4. Ability to calculate basic strategy and count strategies for double exposure.

The first exists now. Use the Composition-Dependant Indexes feature. You could do the second also with CVData. But you would have to list all of the various hands with a 4 or 5, which would be rather a pain. The trick is to come up with a genralized method of specifying such rules.

This exists in CVData/HC. It will likely be moved to CVData in V4.

I just got a feeling of d?j? vu.

    d?j? vu, d?j

My thoughts are to do this in CVCX - but not finalized. There is no current theory on this. But there is a way.

What am I missing? Since when don't we know how to bet optimally on more than one hand?

We do, so long as we always play the same number of hands. He wants to change the number of hands, which changes the frequencies. And how it changes the frequencies varies depending on the number of players.

    MJ: Clarification

I should have been more specific but what I was referring to is simulating the card eating effect. It requires playing several hands in negative and neutral counts and only one hand in positive counts. You and DD have debated this topic before. It would be nice to see optimal bet schedules generated for this type of play.

Further, I would like to see SCORES generated for playing 1 hand in neg and neutral counts and 2 hands in positive counts. The only study on this topic that I am aware of is the one by Dan Provost. Dan ran simulations on BJ Audit and published a study on BJ Insider.

Sorry about the repitition. I meant the ability to do both basic strategy and counting strategy double exposure simulations.

Yes, both exist in CVData/HC and will likely be move to CVData V4.

Dog Hand: Handling interruptions during index generation

    Norm,

Last week I was generating indexes. After four days of calculation, the computer crashed, so I lost all of the calculations.

How about adding a feature that would allow the user to "interrupt" the calculations?

Another idea would be some type of "auto-recovery" feature.

    Just a few thoughts!

I'll change it to record the indexes as it creates them. I haven't had this problem as I've never spent more than 60 minutes creating indexes.
