Wildcard: a little help deleting files please.

This is so basic, I'm reluctant to ask how to solve this.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. I've created a few spread sheets and Word Processing documents.

I want to delete about 6 of these files, but cannot figure out how to do it. I can't find anything under edit to help me accomplish the removal of these files. I can "select all", but the "delete" choice is constantly grayed out, no matter what I try.

    Crayon directions accepted. :-)

    Thanks

Click start/my computer then double click on drive where files are located.
If the program has itown folder click on that or click on the "program files" folder.
Open the folder and click on the file you wish to delete. Hit file and delete.

Thanks, and a follow-up. I got the files delted with the exception of two files. These particular files have "- notepad" attached to them, and try as I might, I can't figure out how to nuke them.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,

Sometimes files can't be deleted because they are in use (or at least Windows thinks they are). Rebooting should free the lock on the file and allow you to delete it.
