Don Schlesinger: Password Manager -- help!

Netscape 7.0 has a Password Manager that can, apparently, manage stored passwords (but not very well!). So, for my sign-on to this site, or others, if I agree to store the password, each time I close Netscape and revisit another day, the signon box comes pre-filled with my previous info. Fine. I hit "enter" and off I go. Very convenient, or so you would think.

So, why does the goddamn message pop up "Do I want to store my password" at least once every NEW time I visit the site? Once I've told them to store the damn thing, can't they leave me alone for the rest of my natural life? The goddman thing is STORED, no?! Now, go away and leave me alone.

    Computers: you gotta HATE them!

It is a useful feature one you get accustomed to how it works, but it is not really intuitive.

You want to store the passwords for accessing the site, but not for posting. The Advantageplayer website will store your posting password for you.

So, when you are making a post, and the window pops up, click on "never for this site."

The only time to click on "Yes, remember my password" is when first accessing the site.

Be careful, though. As the saying goes, "Use it or lose it." After having all my passwords conveniently stored for a lengthy period of time, I get on a different computer and have one hell of a time remembering my various passwords to different sites! :-)

Believe or not, I just figured this out on my own.

    Just did that. Imagine that!!

I get the idea -- stupid as it is.

I write mine down. When you hit 56, you'll understand why! :-)
