shyboy: ? for Parker
What's up at Barona? I was there last week playing $25 DD and only spreading to $100. One of the critters called over a senior critter and I overheard the senior ask, "so you found a counter?" So senior starts monitoring so I left. All this only after about an hour of total play and my 3rd table.
What's been your experience?

They're sharp but tolerant. They probably would not have taken any action against you had you kept playing, unless you were annoying the dealer or other players (expecially the local Asian high rollers).
Backoffs are always polite, usually a flatbet or a 1-2 bet restriction rather than "no more blackjack."
Usually they don't bother anyone with a max bet under $500 unless you're being really blatant and/or acting like a jerk. Sometimes they will abruptly decrease pen as a subtle method of letting you know that you aren't fooling anyone.

Should I not give them my club card for awhile?

Probably doesn't matter. They've already ID'd you, and they likely won't take any action unless you increase your spread or start camping out or bothering people.
As always, YMMV.

Trapper: Camping out
What would you consider "camping out" for Barona or other San Diego area casinos? I generally stay an hour or less in Las Vegas or areas where there are other casinos but find it is often necessary (and possible) to play double that or more in other areas where casinos are fewer and far between.

Sun Runner: for shyboy and/or trapper
(I posted up, forgot who I was talking to, deleted my first effort, forgot to copy it over, so here is the short version ...)
Learn to play poker.
Barona is out in the sticks for sure. So, be nice and polite, play a two hour DD shift, go play 90 minutes of 1-2 NL, time it so you get through a BJ pit shift change, then back to another 2 hour DD session.
Better yet, if you can play, plan two DD sessions around one of their local small buy-in poker tournaments. You could invent all kind of stories for the BJ pit with this activity. Moreover, with two DD sessions and a poker tournie you've justified the time to drive out there and risk your life on Wildcat Canyon road (is it still under repair?) Will it be fixed by late October?
Take care.

Sounds like a good strategy in general for playing BJ off the beaten track. Nothing like driving 2 or 3 hours to find full tables or an unexpected change for the worse in rules or pen.
I am attempting to learn Ed Miller's short stack NL strategy and Arnold's Poker Tournament Formula to give me some sort of step on bad poker players.
