    Jay: Shreveport Short Report

Not much different from the past. Sam's Town still has the best 6-decker with surrender & 5/6 pen. $5 tables can be found even on the weekend at Boomtown & Diamond Jacks (formerly Isle Of Capri). All other casinos the same 6-deck rules, S17 DOA, DAS, no RSA. Pen is VERY dealer-dependant, averages 4-4.25/6. The $10 DD at Diamond Jacks that was there last time is gone, as is the killer $25 single-decker at the Horseshoe (gone last 2 trips). Still $25 DD at DJs & Boomtown. I play red chips, count KO, prefer Vegas SD & DD.

I couldn't get anything going on BJ, so I blew a couple hundred playing Let It Ride and video poker. While I was killing time TWO ladies hit royals in my row within 5 minutes of each other. One only had 2 quarters in, the other hit a progressive for $1195 and change. I told her she was lucky she was $5 short of a W2G. When she cashed out her ticket and it was over $1200 total she decided I was full of it. Oh well, educating the masses sucks.

I'm embarrased to say my biggest hit was when lady friend & I sat at the BIG Wheel Of Fortune at El Dorado. I stuck a hundred in, played for about 5 minutes, hit one bonus round, got the 1000X and hit 5000 nickles. I cashed out, but lady friend got excited and threw away over $100 trying to match my luck.

I really prefer going to Vegas, but we got 3 nights free rooms (one night on the "guaranteed lowest rate" from Trip Rewards, two from DJs), some free cash & food credits. We both lost on the trip but not anything catastrophic. I just got a new offer from DJs again with free rooms, cash, food credits. I'm thinking about going back to try another shot and stick with BJ.

    Parker: Thanks for the report.

You really should stay away from Let It Ride. :-)

Tell me about it. I got spoiled when I hit quads two trips in a row in Vegas, then didn't have a losing session for 3 or 4 times afterwards.

The problem is despite the house advantage I LIKE playing the game. It's social, slow moving, gives my brain a rest from counting for a bit, and has the possibility of a big payoff. I equate it to the slots, but with a bit more brainpower and lower house edge.

But you're right, I should stick to BJ, and sleep or something instead when I need a break.

Whaat good are great games if you can not exploit them??

Keep sessions short and use plenty of cammo.
