    eric: Barona

Having moved recently to San Diego, I checked out Barona for the first time. Knew about their superb single deck conditions (alas, too rich for my blood), but was pleasantly surprised regarding their decent double deck conditions (for California). Just trying to verify if their DD games were using CSM or autoshuffler.

Pit bosses didn't seem to hawk over the tables, which was cool.
Been backed off more times than I care to remember in Vegas, but I've never played in any of the Sovereign Nations. Anyone been backed off in these establishments? Are the BOs any different than that of Vegas?

With late surrender and fair pen, the double deck games are not only "decent (for California)" but better than about 90% of what you will find in Las Vegas these days. They are real DD games -- while Barona uses CSM's, they do not use the "fake double deck" type of CSM.

The pit and surveillance are quite sharp, but they don't sweat small action (max bet under $500). Max Rubin (author of Comp City) is some sort of consultant there. Occasionally tipping the dealers and being polite to everyone can actually buy you some longevity. Back-offs are polite and discreet.

Barona is the class act of San Diego area casinos.

auto shufflers then, not CSM's, right?

Yes, indeed. I was trying to make that explicitly clear . . . and not succeeding very well. :-)
