OK here it is I am sure this will be a letdown after all the waiting. I went to visit my daughter and grandson in Twin Falls over memorial day weekend. Saturday night we drove down to Jackpot. Jackpot is a strange town all I remember is a long ass drive thru the middle of nowhere and almost hitting a deer. Any way we get to Jackpot and I dont see anything but the 5 casinos I dont even remember seeing a gas station or houses or anything and only one stoplight that I can recall. First stop 4 Jacks casino I dont know why they call it that they dont have any cards just slots and a few VP machinces I didn't even bother to look at the pay schedules. This place had maybe 70 or so machines and they were packed in there I remember what looked like an old closet with two machines stuck in there you would have to play ass to ass with another ploppy in about 1 square foot of floor space ( does anyone have a good name for slot players besides ploppy since you would have to stand and not plop to play that machine)

Needless to say I move on for greener pastures next stop Bartons Club 93 What a bunch of Assholes the club has about 15 tables most of which are BJ sd, no das, no ins, 9 10 11, h17 3-250 limits. I sit down buy in and throw out a nickel. I had figured Jackpot would be full of locals and truckers and I dressed down on purpose however most of the people were dressed up and yet only one or two people were betting 50 most were betting 5 so I knew I was going to stand out anyway I throw out a nickel count goes up a little bit i throw out 25 or 30 in red this is the second hand I played all of a sudden an old sea hag dealer who looked like the dealers Lance Humble is always worried about except this one is an 80 year old female comes running to my table.

Shuffle time i make some comment like oh a new dealer and throw a bet out for her and get a stare from pit and dealer alike by the way my table is the only one with a dealer change. She actually deals all the way til she runs out of cards. The next shuffle the count goes up a bit and I push out about 30-35 and shuffle, so I leave it out the count goes down and I chip up shuffle, so I throw out 2 blacks on the new shuffle and get a BJ shuffle, I have only played about 8-10 hands at this point then I get a 19 and dealer pulls a 19 and grabs my chips and tried to scoop up the cards (the dealer had been dealing lightning fast probally thinking no one can count that fast and tring to screw me up) so I point it out thinking maybe it was a mistake and she doesn't really want to lay the cards back down I insist and sure enough I push next hand I bust out and toss out another chip for the next round and she scoops up my new bet and throws it in the rack before it even stops sliding in the circle I point this out and she is now laughing the other ploppys backup my story and I get my chip back and I am seriously considering smashing my glass over her head or perhaps using my pepper spray but I contain myself say thank you and head for the cage.

When I get out to the parking lot my daughter says turn around and there is the Pit Creature at the front door staring me down. I consider doing one of those Fear and loathing in Las Vegas high speed J turns while panicing and hiding my face for effect but once again control my self.

Next stop Horseshu....total opposite of that hell I just came from 4 tables 3 sd one shoe with 1-25 limit on the shoe and 9 betting spots. The sd da2 3-100 dealing two rounds to a full table and the shoe was 5 out of 6. the place is tiny 4 bj tables one craps table and about 30-40 slots everyone is happy even the militant lesbian looking pit boss is having a good time and talking to me I dont play one hand because the place is jammed and the people are crowded behind the tables waiting for a spot I listen to the live band for a bit and head next door to the westsar....all slots but they do have pool tables and darts however these don't seem to attract much of a crowd and there are only about 3 people in this joint so I head across the street to Cactus Petes.

This place is alright I counted 22 Bj tables in two pits most sd with a couple of dd I will start with the dd 9 betting spots da2 pen really good I would say 85% which is where the put the plastic cut card so I would imagine they run out of cards alot with 9 spots...sd no das h17 9 10 11 dealing two rounds to a full table as most tables were full I only got to play for about 5 minutes and that was with 2 ploppys at the 25-500 table the dealer was dealing to about 40 cards and actually ran out a few times which would have been great but they pick up all the cards and shuffle so there is no chance for endplay ( I wonder what would happen if someone had a BJ and they picked it up and burned it) finally I get a heads up game and the dealer is going deep but the count is going even deeper then on the next shuffle the count goes up and a bunch of old ladys sit down at my table and the dealer looks at the pack and breaks it I am sure he was worried about running out and not that I had a couple of black out there. I leave them out there and get beat off the top of the new shoe and about this time my daughter comes by and is ready to go home so seeing how the count just went up I shove all my chips out in the circle and get a nice BJ it takes him a minute to figure out how to pay my rainbow bet black green red a 2.50 chip and some white so I recoup most of my loss in one hand.

I leave Jackpot 49 dollars poorer. Oh ya almost all of the tables at each casino have royal match side bets and one at Cactus Petes has some side bet that if you get a bj you can spin this wheel and get whatever payout shows up it was so crowded I couldn't read the payout I guess my eyes aren't what they used to be hello Snyders seniors count.

Anyway my verdict stay out of Bartons 93 my guess is they don't actually know how to spot a counter but they aren't taking any chances with non locals as everyone else but me seemed to know each other. It might be possible to use the Reno shuffle technique but I didn't have the time to build myself in and find out. As for the Horseshu everyone seemed really friendly and if you went in when it wasn't crowded you could use the Ian Anderson aproach and see what happens because you definatly can't hide in that place it is the size of an airplane toilet. Finally Cactus Petes didn't seem to sweat black action but then again the place was packed and hardly worth playing and I wasn't exactly breaking their bank but it might be a good place to try on a less crowded day. Hope I didn't put anyone to sleep with the long story. P.S. to that sea hag you are a dirty F'n thief and deserve to be stuck in a dead end place like that F-U .......SM

I also enjoyed it - a little bit of culture shock.

However, it was even tougher to read before I added paragraph breaks. :-)

    Otherwise, I left it untouched.

Nice report SM. I've never experienced that kind of strangeness at Barton's, but do agree that any "outsiders" are scrutinized. That wasn't your car outside with the "ICNTCRDS" license plate was it?

Jackpot would be a good place to play, provided that you could get heads-up action (which is near impossible). I don't know where the ploppy factory is that these folks come from, but the tables are ALWAYS full!

    Thanks again.

A Blackjack table with 9 spots? Now I've heard EVERYTHING! It must have been as big as my couch! Uston himself couldn't play all those spots!

From this day forward, I will always dream of playing 9-spot tables heads-up with dealers dealing all the way down - except without the sea hags.

    How about hopeless dreamers?

    suicyco maniac: 9 spots

It was a normal size table but they squeezed 9 beting spots on it ( by the way I saw about 5 or 6 of theese ) anyway I thought it gets crowded enough with 7 players try playing with nine !!!

Two separate posters, or at least posts coming from two separate computers in different geographic areas.
