KO Fan: Casinos in LA area

I will be going to LA March 27 for the weekend. Won a free trip to have lunch with Larry King. Anyone know if he plays BJ or gambles?

Also I am looking for advice as far as any Casinos with good/decent DD or 6 deck in the area. They are putting us up in a Hotel near Rodeo drive in Beveryly Hills. Will have a car. What would be the closest casino in the area?

    Thanks for any input.

No idea. We don't run in the same circles. :-)

In California, only casinos on Indian reservations are allowed to offer real, house-banked, Las Vegas style blackjack.

In Los Angeles you will find cardrooms, mostly in the Commerce and Bell areas. These are primarily poker rooms, with a bizarre, player-banked variant of blackjack in which you play to 22, the deck has jokers, and you must pay a per-hand collection. It is essentially unplayable.

Indian reservations tend to be in the middle of nowhere. The closest ones to Los Angeles are in the Palm Springs area, about 100 miles east of LA.

You might even consider the San Diego north county casinos, which are actually about midway between San Diego and Riverside. Here you will find some decent 6D, and double deck too, if you can handle $25 or $50 min.

You can find locations of Indian casinos at the American Casino Guide website. Link below.

Larry King plays the horses, or at least goes to the races. I was in the press box at Laurel, MD (probably 15 yrs ago) watching the horses warm up. Larry King was next to me and pointed to a horse and said "why is that horse 15 to 1?" Well, Larry, probably because it was a slow horse from Charles Town. I've seen him there at Preakness Day, which is run at Pimlico, also, so I assume he was betting the simulcast.
