phantom007: Tunica WHITE TRASH Report (and other data).

As I waited for the Valet to deliver my vehicle (pick-up and 4WD, of course), I noticed a brand new Ford Excursion being loaded with one piece of luggage, one suit bag, 8 cases of beer, and about 10 bottles of hard liquior, plus about 10 plastic bags full of "gift shop stuff".

All of this was carried out on the Bellman's Cart.
The cute blonde giggled when the valet gave her the keys, and a fat, grey-haired man (maybe her grandfather), who carried an empty "slot cup", tipped the Bellman a dollar, and then, same to the Valet.

When same Valet (finally) brought me my Truck, I tipped him $5 (my usual). Then I drove away, wondering, that if I gain more weight, then in 20 years, can I get a BABE, and only have to tip a buck!

I wonder how much this guy lost?

During this trip, I played a few hours at Fitzgerald's, and the rest at Goldstrike. At FG, they had $5. DD open, and I played alone for a few hours, m/l (ploppies come and ploppies go). Ended up in the hole, then reverted to "POS", i.e., Progressive Overbetting Style, though doing same with regards to the Count, and won $300.

Then went to GS. Had not played BJ here for the last 6 months...not backed off, just flushed out! I carefully scanned the field...none of the oppressors were on duty! Found a SD table, $10. minimun, and began to play. Of course, gave my Player's Card, for the purpose of comps.

I played 2 hands, for about 15 min., when PC walks over to Dealer and says "COUNTER!". Nothing seemed to change, except that I realized that an "Executive PC" was in my peripheral vision to the left and behind (the same guy who once before said I was going to 2 hands with higher bets in positive counts). I quickly reverted to my ploppy days, i.e., Progressive.

He left, as did my luck, and I was allowed to keep playing, and losing $1,000. at BJ, then $700 at Craps, trying "to get it back"!

At least, I should have GOOD COMPS next visit!

    Other Tunica info.:

-Slot Wars...most all Tunica properties are getting into the "loosest slots" battle. Hollywood, so far, seems to be the leader at 98%.

-$3. BJ available at many properties, in off hours...always 6D.

-GoldStrike's Poker Room is first of same to be "Non-Smoking" in Tunica...screw that SHIT! I will go next door to HS then!

-March 14-16th...Dice-Scooting seminar at Sam's Town. This is not a joke! Seminar put on by a reputable BJ author, whose name cannot be spoken here.

So there we have it, phantom007's first Tunica White Trash Report.

I stole a roll of TP from GS, so as to get even for their beating! Someday, I want a Cart Full of Booze!

    phantom007.

A $1700 roll of TP? Reminds me of a few $3000 bowls of gumbo I've enjoyed. Nice and spicy, but they just sit there in the pit of your stomach and burn...
Thanks for the report. Hope you get'em next time.

IMHO, $5 is too much to tip a valet. I remember reading a section about tipping etiquette on a web site about Vegas, and the suggested tip for a valet was $1 (all of the other suggestions were what I expected, such as 15-20% to waiters). I personally give $2 to valets because I feel too cheap giving $1, but if you think about it, a valet who receives $1 for every vehicle he retrieves makes a decent amount of money for a rather easy job. How much do others out there tip valets?

    I always tip $2.

A recent visit to LV had me noticing how hard this young guy was working to bring water to people's tables. This guy hustled, and I thought to myself, I'll bet he never gets a tip. As I left the restaurant with my wife, he happened to be near me and I asked him...he said never. I put a red chip on his water tray and he just looked at me for a moment with a sincere appreciation...more like a silent thank you for noticing me. It was a well spent $5 in my book!

A trip to the BR in Biloxi found our waiter's service on the mediocre side...a waitress from an earlier visit came by just to say hello and asked how things were...we mentioned our hot item came out cold and perhaps it just wasn't our day. She immediately corrected the situation, apologized and went on to other tables...she actually brought the hot food items instead of our assigned waiter. I left a nominal tip for my assigned waiter, found the nice lady before we left, had a well folded $10 bill (I'm sure she thought it was a $1), and handed it to her to express my appreciation for saving our dinner.

I don't recommend this, but occasionally I do this kinda of thing because I appreciate excellent service...all she did was replace cold onion soup with hot.

    Parker: Valet tokes

    I usually use self-park.

When I do use valet, I tip $2.

The exception is when I am staying at a hotel and expect to be using valet a lot. Then I tip $5, at least for the first few times.

It is then funny to watch me get my car ahead of the line of people who have been standing there waiting for some time. :-)

and I always get my own bag. I usually only tip $2 when I'm having a fantastic trip or the valet is very quick about getting the car.

Jimmy: What if there's a parking charge?

I self park for a few reasons. But I'm curious - what do you guys do when there's an upfront parking charge? Still tip the valet?

If there's a parking charge, you can usually get your parking fee taken care of by the casino - just get a pit boss/floorman to validate the ticket.

I remember a $1000 chili dog at 2:00 am during my last (can you say final) trip to Belterra.

Final trip to Belterrible? You mean you're not planning on returning to play their fine selection of quality games such as 8D with 6/8 pen and high-limit 6D with 4/6 pen? Heck--they even offer the only 5D games in southern Indiana--those lovely CSM's!
