    el_jefe: should I wear a hat

Just curious what others have to say about wearing a hat while inside a casino. On one hand it seems like it could keep the cameras (and pit if I wear it low) from seeing my eyes and getting a good image of my face (but maybe the technology is so advanced there going to get the angle they want anyway). On the other hand it could just draw more attention if they think I'm trying to hide something. I could pose the same question about sunglasses, but that seems like a dead giveaway.

to purple no need for a disguise.

Sunglasses are not bad because there are plenty of legit reasons to wear them.

Best thing is to be outgoing and talkative, use a players card always, and be sensitive to any heat that may be coming your way. If you are in a place like Tunica, Vegas, Biloxi, Deadwood, keep sessions short and move around.

    Best to you,
    Ouchez.

My opinion is slightly different, but follows in the same vein as Ouchez pointed out: be natural.

If you are 73 and dress like you are 73 (wrap-around oversized sunglasses for your eye condition) then you are natural. If you are 24 and dress like you are 73 (wrap around sunglasses because you are a counter and want to avoid detection), you are not natural.

If you are dressed age appropriate, sometimes a baseball hat or other hat is natural for the situation. For example, I sat next to a Black gentleman recently that looked like he had just stepped out of a two-toned 74 Cadillac in his bright pinstriped suit. He also had on quite the brightly colored hat that matched the outfit perfectly. The hankerchief in his breast pocket was a perfect accent. Did he look "funny" for wearing a hat--NO! Did it hide his acne scarred face? Yes! Did he look natural? Absolutely. I'm actually surprised people didn't come up to ask him how much his women were per hour!

What Ouchez is saying (I think) and what I am saying is: be natural. If someone asks you a question, answer it and talk to them while maintaining your count. If you can't do that, then practice until you can. You don't have to talk like crazy, but being a statue at the table just isn't that natural when other people are talking to you. If they just won't shut up and you can't keep the count with their blabbering, then move to another table when the count goes south to get away. Blend into the situation. If you are 25 and all your friends dress a certain way in that casino, dress like them! If they drink like fishes, then have a good story as to why you don't: going to AA, wrapped a car around a tree and swore off the stuff, I'm their designated driver, etc... If you are 45, then act 45. Dress like the others of your age group.

Don't worry about HIDING so much as blending in. Some call it hiding in plain sight.
