    Battery: What would you do?

You're at a pretty decent single deck game and a nice number of good counts are coming along. But you are getting your brains beat in because you seem to be losing almost every double down.

Finally, after doubling a soft 17 against a dealer 6, you notice the dealer is taking your chips with one hand and at the same time is turning over your double down card with the other.

I challenged the dealer and asked how he knew I had lost the hand. His response was "I'm a professional dealer".

    What would you do?

Turn him in? If so, how?

    Just go to another table?

    Try another casino?

Chalk it up to bad luck and keep playing?

Some dealers glimpse the double-down card as they are putting it under your two cards. It doesn't mean he's cheating.

First off I like to take my doubles up. It makes it easier to count, just count it when you see it and not have to remember to count it when the dealer turns it up later. In this Indian Casino I sometimes go to, everyone takes their cards down it seems except for me. When asked, I just say that, "a real woman takes her punishment with her eyes open, no need for a blindfold" and suddenly all the guys want their card up.
At this same place several dealers do peek at the down cards. They get a kick out of paying the player just before turning his card, if he happens to win. It is not cheating and if done in this way it can make it more fun for some people. (Never can be fun if you are not winning when you double)

Saboteur: Do tthey only do this with the player at 3rd base?

Does not matter what position the player is in. Dealer finishes their hand and then begins to pay or take bets, when they get to the double player the dealer will pay out the chips and immediately turn over the down card to show the eye and pit that it was correct.

Yes I agree, it is kind of hokey but at least in this place I know they are not cheating.
Is it professional, No. But dealing can be a tedious job and often the players are upset loosing. Some of them, I think, do this only when things have been going well for the players to just add some life or fun to the table.
Just get your cards face up.

For now I will be a ghost, but it is nice knowing that I have a fan. As far as attitude and the psyc stuff goes, I am a third generation counter, have had family on both sides of the tables and in management, so there is much I have drawn from and many reasons to remain a ghost.
