    Horses for courses.

I'd say it's not as strong as Hi-Opt 1 for SD or DD but much stonger for shoes. Today, if just starting out, I would not choose Hi-Opt 1; but that's just me.

HiLo and KO compare favorably as all purpose systems but if I was gonna just plan on straight counting 6D or 8D games, between the two, I'd go with KO.

Do a search here on ... KO ... and you'll find long and lenghthy discusions concerning the differences between the two.

KO is a good system. True counted KO is better, and true counted KO with an ace side count is really powerful for shoe games.

I thought KO ignores true count and includes ace count?

Correct on both counts, and KO works fine just like that.

However, those desiring additional performance from KO can gain some by using a true-count conversion. This is commonly referred to as "True-counted KO," or "TKO" for short.

The ace is indeed counted in the primary count, but an ace side can be useful in certain situations such as the insurance decision.
