zugszwang: Please try to beat this one...

Player third base hit (yes hit, not even doubled) his Blackjack(!) in a hand-held pitch game. Of course this lead to an undeserved dealer 21 wiping my $300 max bet with a 20...
I could not breath properly for about a minute, told myself the old "they help you as much as they hurt you" line and carried on, wondering how many years it might be before an equally moronic play would help me?

Moronic play? Possibly not. Maybe what you observed (depending upon the count as well as the bet placed) maybe a very clever AP making a non- tradition camouflage play designed for maximum shock effect, kind of like the Greek phallanx if you're familiar with ancient warfare. Anyway, if you're in Northern Nevada, playing single deck, and the guy next to you does the same on very rare occasion, please feel free to introduce yourself. I don't have many opportunities these days to meet fellow APs who enjoy playing single deck. Good Luck!

Seriously, do you have any recollection of this person's quality of play? Had the guy been making stupid decisions like this for some time or playing a reasonable level of quality BJ. Was he flat betting?

Even the most committed ploppie goes to play blackjack .. just to hit blackjacks. A dedicated ploppie screwing up a natural is bizarre.

Maybe you just sat down at the wrong table, at the wrong time, with bad people.

    Ya think?

I watched a dealer bust soft 21 once.

Of course, that was a good thing.

And please, I'm not trying to refuel the debate on whether this is stealing or not.

    ;^)

I played at Caligornia Casino of LV betting $1k 2 boxes, the stunning beauty from Hawaii I liked to impress bet $10 on third base, she split her 10 vs dealer's 10, caught 2 A's made 2 21, dealer had a 4 in the hole, caught... 7, of course.
