    nwjunk: Camo?

Forgive me for being a little new to this - but I haven't heard people talk too much about evading being caught counting. Anybody care to share how they fly under the radar? And what sorts of things the pb's flag?

You will not see a great deal of conversation involving this topic because everyone is consistently working on remaining anonymous. These sites are viewed by casino personal, so to give information on how we fly below the radar would move us very clearly onto the radar.

My advice to you is to pull these ideas from the great literature which exists on the subject (I would start with Burning the Tables). The more that you emerse yourself into the minds of great BJ players, the quicker you will find your own variations on camo. In the end, you will have to come up with your own unique blend if you are to have longevity in this field.

As Hal pointed out, most people will be reluctant to discuss specifics, since casino personnel read these pages. Hell, for all we know, you could be a casino employee. :-)

That being said, here are some "generic" tips. If you're spreading red, don't worry about camo. You're not going to bankrupt even the smallest casino with a max bet under $75 or so, and you will be "below the radar" at all but the smallest and/or sweatiest places.

Always be pleasant and polite to people. A lot of low-stakes counters get backed off, not because they actually represent any threat to the casino's bottom line, but simply because they act like jerks.

Keep your sessions short. This is the simplest way, and it doesn't give up any EV.

Look like a gambler and not a counter. Remember, people go to casinos to have fun. Laugh. Talk to people. Show some excitement when you get a BJ, even if you have a minimum bet out.

The stereotypical card counter is a young, casually dressed caucasian male who drinks bottled water, employs large bet spreads, shows no emotion when winning or losing, declines to be rated, stares intently at the cards, and never tokes dealers. Do what you can to avoid fitting this stereotype.

Maybe i'm overdramatizing, but do you ever worry about casion's profiling you and then putting you on a blacklist as part of some collusion with other casino's to keep out counters?

Not that i'm a proficient card counter yet - but my fear is that as a novice counter i'll be too obvious and get banned for life or something

You mean like collecting pictures and names of counters and putting them into a database, mixed in with common criminals such as slot cheats and card markers, and then selling that database to casinos all over the world? You mean like illegally using counters likenesses without their permission? You mean like the Griffin Detective Agency has been doing for many years?

Relax. By the time you are playing at the levels that will get you in Griffin, you will know all about it.

Truth is, Griffin is a giant scam perpetrated against the casinos. Many active players have been in Griffin for many years, and consider it nothing more than a minor annoyance.
