    steve: surrender or insurance

After several years, now I found the game: surrender when casino has ace(6 decks). The questions:
1)Which hands should I surrender when casino showing ace
    2) when TC >=3, surrender OR insurance??

    Thank you

Always surrender 16 vs. ace, surrender 15 vs. ace if the count is positive. You can learn more indices, but since they are negative, you don't gain a great deal by them.

    > 2) when TC >=3, surrender OR insurance??

Why "OR?" If you're holding a 15 or 16, do both. Take insurance, then, if the dealer does not have blackjack, surrender.

Admittedly, it may get some strange looks from the dealer, pitboss, and other players, but it is the correct play.

    Of course!

Thanks Parker. It's little stuff like this that makes coming here everyday for me worthwhile.

I don't get to play 'surrender' much, but when I do, I'm sure I have just surrendered and gone on to the next hand.

Some stuff is SO obvious .. when it is pointed out!

Basic strategy surrender for 6 decks:

Surrender 15 vs 10 (and vs Ace if dealer hits s17)
    Surrender 16 vs 9,T,A

    Count based variations (HiLo):
    15 vs 9 +1
    14 vs T +2
    15 vs A +1
    16 vs 8 +3

I think it would be really fabulous if some one would put together 3 or 4 of the most profitable surrender plays.

Why OR ?? Because I can not do both(ENHC). If I surrender, there is no more money on the table, so for what can I take insurance?
Is it now better to play the hand and take insurance, or should I surrender, when TC >=3?

They could do this if they wanted to. First, you would take insurance. Then, you would surrender. They would leave your bet and cards on the table until the dealer resolved his hand (as they used to do in Atlantic City). If he had a natural, you would not be permitted to surrender. If not, everything would work as normal.

In any event, if you can't do both, surrender.

Do you mean early surrender (i.e. you lose only half your bet even if the dealer has blackjack)? Other posters may have assumed late surrender.

Basic strategy is to early surrender all totals of 5-7 and 12-17 against the ace. This is worth about 0.4%.

    > 2) when TC >=3, surrender OR insurance??

If you can't do both, surrender.

If casino has ace, they ask me if I want to surrender. If I surrender, I can not take insurance. If I take insurance, I can not surrender.
