    sam: team play?

I saw three young guys working today on a six deck game. I heard they'd been playing since last Sat. First someone whispered, "They're counters." I watched a bit (two shoes) and saw the main player put out table max bets (2.5k) on rising negative counts. Once at -17(KO) well into the three decks the dealers were giving them, the main player split then doubled a hand--$7500 total bet which he lost. The usual pen here is 4.5. One max bet at -12 mid-three deck which he also lost. No count indexed strategy changes were visible during the time I watched. Of course, the count never got close to indices territory. They didn't seem to pay particular attention to the shuffle and the cut wasn't made precisely as I've seen a shuffle tracking team do. Maybe they've got great cover. I left to play some and returned later to find that on direction from the pit the dealer changed the shuffle by eliminating a final lacing of the cards. I was told one of the team became visibly upset and left the table. The other small player left and the main player colored up and left. I don't know if they were up or down. Casino personnel seemed convinced that they were shuffle trackers. The only sign connected to the shuffle was the upset the changed shuffle caused. But I'm not certain I'd catch shuffle tracking since I know so little about it. I'm certain they weren't counters because of the max bet plays. My guess is paranoia in pit over some lucky hunch players on a streak. But this makes me very curious about shuffle tracking. What's a good beginning source? Thanks.
