    sukces: soft doubling

In my local casino they permit doubling on any two cards but in soft doubling the Ace is counted as one, not eleven.
Should I still soft double? If so, on what cards and against what cards should I double? Should I double according to the basic strategy or counting strategy? I appreciate the answer becouse I can not find this information in any book that I have.

I modified my ca to see what happens. I can only answer with regards to the non-counting strategy. According to the results I get, you wouldn't double any soft hands. The EV for doubling becomes negative for all soft hands that would normally be doubled except A,7 vs 6 and A,8 vs 6 1D. Even in these 2 hands though, the EV for standing is much better. The same holds for multiple decks as well.

Please keep in mind however that I often have bugs the first time I try getting new values, so I would wait to hear confirmation before I would bet on this.

    Sincerely,
    MGP

p.s. Speaking of bugs, for past crazy and KOD, the correct TD/CD strategy for Australian OBBO is to split A,A vs A, 10 and Split 8,8 vs 10 but not vs A. Sorry about the confusing posts on BJMath.

    MGP is right.

In Professional Blackjack, Stanford Wong advises never soft doubling A2-A8 if the ace will count as 1 only. There may be indices for these plays but he doesn't provide them and they are probably not worth knowing anyway. You may however safely double A9 when the count calls for it (think about it).
