Linus: moving from $5 to $10 min
I was thinking of moving from $5 to $10 minimum since I think it well help get me out of the crowds and get me into some better conditions. I usually spread 1-10 or 1-12. Is it still possible to spread that using $10 units? My BR is not quite ready to do this yet, but I am looking forward to it. I'm trying to build up my BR (not just through playing BJ!) so that in a year or two, I would like to be able to play green exclusively. What about the spread betting green units? Obviously it can't be 1-10...If it's something like 1-4, wouldn't it be better to play $10 and spread 1-10? That way, the min bet would be smaller while the max bet stays the same... Thanks for the help.

Yes, it should be, unless where you play is really sweaty.

I'm guessing your playing 6 Decks?
If so, 1-4 will never cut it. It is possible to spread green 1-12, again, see above.
Good luck.

Yes. I play mostly 6D, S17, DA2, DAS. The only time I can get to play DD is when I travel.

REALLY? I just didn't think that most casinos will tolerate a 1-10 or 1-12 spread of green. I mean, I think my local place is pretty tolerant with me since I am a red-chipper-but, I am squarely in positive territory with my trend going up, and I am worried about going green there. Is it with SD and DD then that you need to reduce your spread?

Thanks for your advice and time.

Well then you know that in your 6D game, with the exception of a wild swing near the end of the shoe, when the count gets high, in the 12 unit range, you gradually increase. So you could easily look like a progression bettor. You may be able to get away with doing 2 hands, as you probably have more space at the quarter table then you do the nickel tables, again making your spread 'look' lower, if that's your concern. Where I play hand spreading is common on the quarter table, and pratically non-existant on the $5 tables.
