I called the place yesterday. Asked if they plan to offer table games. Answer was "We won't know for sure until November."

Seems to me it may take a while.

There is a measure on the ballot to expand the compact between the Native Americans and the State to allow them to deal some card games.

It is my understanding however that the caveat will be it will have to be a "player vs player" arrangement.

This brings to my mind either a player banked game where the house takes rakes (either per hand or otherwise) on BJ or some type of tourney play for poker (no propositional betting).

    Too bad.

None the less, it probably won't pass anyway.

I'll be surprised to see anything as I think the measure is going to fail.

.. the general population feels gambling to be evil
.. nobody trusts the Native Americans to count the money properly
.. nobody trusts the legislature to actually turn the add'l revenue over to 'education'

The "nobodies" may actually be right on all counts!

im not in a position to judge the ability, nor the honesty of a native american to count money.
you obviously have some insight on native american behavioral patterns that i do not.
so i will have to leave that ball in your court.
as to it passing or not ive read on some of these things, ( allbeit im far from educated nor am i an authority on the matter), and it seems they go about resolving their political pursuits in a different manner than is the norm for some others.
i could be wrong and just misinterpreted what i read. it is just my belief that if something does pass, a setting where the establishment facilitates customers to play the game of poker and merely charges "rent", is more likely to pass than where a game is set up in such a way that it is the customer trying to beat the house. the house in turn, responsible for payouts to the patrons. or as you say nothing will pass, or i could be just bored, tired and delirious from work and just felt like punching keys to wind down before getting in my car. who knows. either way. im leaving to eat a waffle then go play BJ.

    so lah teeh dahh.

oh by the way, you guys hear of the new game trying to be born. winner take all BJ???
if all else fails imma bekum a casino game inventor/markuhtur.

    good day toyee awl!!

Me neither; and I am not impuning their integrity at all. I'm sure they count the money just fine.

It is the general public's perception -in this particular election -I was referring to.

okie: The low down on Oklahoma gaming

If you have questions I can probably help out.

BJ was played in OK up until about two years ago. State put a stop to it. You paid a commission/rake and all the lost money/bets went into a fund to be given back to the players, some by gaming incentives, some by free tourneys, and the rest by simply given away during drawings.

I believe the bill will pass. The people that created the bill managed to provide big incentives that will attract most indian tribes, anyone involved with education/teaching industry, and anyone involved in the horse industry. It has been advertised as a "This bill isn't saying yes to gambling, it is just saying Oklahoma and education should profit from the gambling that is already here". As it stands, Oklahoma doesn't receive any money from the indian gaming revenues. This bill gives the indians looser gaming laws but takes a portion of the revenues. It also allows the horse tracks to have electronic gaming.

If bj is re-instated, there will be numerous "advantage opportunities" although not as conventional as counting. Players here are idiots. Dealers aren't very experienced. Pit isn't near as concerned about the player bets as they are the rake. I've played at a lot of casinos. The dealers in OK make more mistakes then anywhere I've seen. Also, some casino will wise up and realize that they can benefit most by offering a really good game to get rid of the money lost by the ploppies. And when they do...I'll be there.

    Nice call.

Interesting idea. Several years ago when BJ w/rake was being dealt out West of OKC, I noticed the 'high' limit tables were $25 to $300. The 'low' limit table was $5 to $300.

    What!?

And they were cutting over 2 of 6 decks off on the 'high' limit table. And those tables never lacked for players.

Crazy -it was all I could do not to scream at them the lunacy of what they were doing.

Sometimes I would look at the min/max signs just to make sure I wasn't going blind, then I'd look at the poor saps spreading 1:12 when they could be spreading 1:60 (theoritically), then I'd look at the 40% being cut off the 1:12 table and the 25% being cut off the 1:60 table ... and almost laugh out loud.

I really did feel sorry for the self-perceived 'high rollers.'

I just spoke to someone at Winstar and they said that they would be offering BJ "early spring."
