Not My Usual Handle: It gets better and better

Got on and off the Pot in about 5 minutes Wednesday night. Four blackjack tables have been closed to make room for four unmanned roulette and craps tables. As a consequence, there was only one five dollar table, and PEOPLE WAITING IN LINE for the privelage of playing at quarter tables. Updates on "The miracle on anal street" will no longer flow from this pen.

    scobee 1: Agreed.

The face-lift on Canal street has left some blemishes. Double table minimums for two boxes, 3X for three, etc. Over a twenty four hour period I observed filled tables everywhere but the high limit pit, and using the Ho-Chunk model, they close down tables to make sure the seats are always occupied. Wonging is impossible under current conditions.

As one famous author I ran into there said, "What's the big deal? The pen is pretty unexceptional and the crowds are awful."

I had to bribe a dealer to protect my two boxes. Every time I had a loss and the betting circle was empty for a moment, some ploppie was trying to grab my position. I even had to beseech the pit to make a ruling after dropping to one hand for a round, because some idiot was throwing his money on my spot and wouldn't take no for an answer. This was at high noon. I decided to drive to Green Bay and found the conditions I was looking for.

No wonder they could care less about the action and skilled players. It's a gold mine twenty-four-seven now. Better opportunities elsewhere.

    Brick: A goldmine?

You consider a casino that makes ploppies wait in line to bet, a goldmine? This casino is LOSING money. It's very easy to figure out why. Many ploppies will also have the same logic as yourself, which is "Better opportunities elsewhere." See ya.

I couldn't agree more with your logic, but most ploppies share an obsessive impatience to lose their money as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this is the only store in town, so they are bursting at the seams.

Ever see people running to make a boarding time? I swear the gambling jones is a powerful drug. When the product is scarce, it is all the more potent. Anyone with half a brain who managed a casino would keep all the tables open all the time under these circumstances, even if they were less than capacity on occasion. Jack Binion is smart enough to realize this. Most are not. The problem with the Pots is that they are so ahead of their expectations now that limits have been raised, they have no idea of the true potential they could realize. It is a common problem in this area that over-capacity creates unplayable conditions for advantage players. The difference in the Milwaukee situation is that it goes on around the clock. Hopefully this will change in the not too distant future with further expansion. The games are not horrible there, but the competition for seats is ridiculous. I suggested to the pit manager they should allow back-betting like Foxwoods to increase their hold. Like most native american casinos, they think they have all the answers. This arrogance can lead to some advantageous situations, but in this particular case it is a tough nut to crack.

When supply refuses to keep up with demand, then money is lost. Amazing how moronic some of those Midwest casinos are managed.

"Most ploppies share an obsessive impatience

Not sure how you arrive at the above conclusion, but all of my ploppy friends want a bang for the buck. Losing money as quickly as possible is the farthest thing from their mind.

"Ever see people running to make a boarding
    > time?"

This does not mean they are trying to lose as quickly as possible. If someone is in a hurry to get to a restaurant before they close, does this mean they'll eat very quickly when they get there?

What I think scobee is trying to say is because of the pack and the 7 people behind the table waiting for a spot to open, the rush to play increases. The fact they are ploppies is why they will probably lose their money. When you do the Chunk on a busy night it is fun to watch the Battle Royale when a spot opens. It is just like watching mothers fight over the new Christmas toy at the Mall of America every year. Just make sure when you wong into that count you do not have to face a truck driver for it. The battle may take a while. By the time you are done the shu will be over.

SOTSOG: True ... but logic does not apply.

Ploppy goes to overcrowded boat intending to play a few hands of $5 blackjack.

No seats available, finally gets to sit down at one of the $50 tables, which doesn't matter, all the limits are jacked up, so play or leave. Ploppy starts playing $50 a hand instead of $5.

Ploppy loses more money than he first intended, would like to get up and catch his breath, but place is so crowded, who knows when he will be able to play again, if he gets up he loses his seat. Ploppy continues to play and lose.

Other ploppies, not being able to play when and how they want, get frustrated and start throwing money around stupidly.

If the casino had enough open tables, reasonably priced, ploppies would quickly come, lose what they wanted to - how they wanted to, get their belly full and never come back.

Think about those 'exclusive' night clubs, where people stand in line to get in. Beer is cheaper at the joint down the street, but the more they exclude people from coming in, the longer they wait in line to pay more.

Nice to see hear from you both and even more gratifying that you could 'splain what I was getting at to Brick.

You both win free passes to my other site. Deviation Dogs need not apply.

I remember when I was a completely ( rather than semi-) ignorant student of advantage play, it was SOTSOG and Milk Man who answered my first few posts with patience and good advice. In fact, the very first post I ever ventured, on the internet forum formerly known as Red Chip Beginner BJ, SOTSOG answered my question about Kelly criteria and it's relationship to gambler's ruin. Of course, he was promptly corrected on a math issue by Parker..... the start of a long and rewarding tradition. Milk Man made me laugh with his antics at Mystic Lake and inspired me to try writing with a humorous slant.

I can promise that at bjf midwest the two of you will never face a busted post. As to Brick, I will withhold judgment.

Parker is, of course, always welcome, too.

    All in fun,
    scobee

Of course if someone posted on bjf an invitation to post here, it would be busted.

It's worth a shot. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to test the waters with those hypocrites. {;--)

According to their guidelines, there is no reason you can't, as long as you plan to stay and play....

That would be a very cool thing... Norm as mediator.

I do not violate stated posting policy. Further, it has been stated that everyone over here is unethical - everyone - and that post remains unbusted. I'll no further disturb these pages with the current trash-fest on bjf and I will not bother them with my presence. I am told it's on bj21 too. Wouldn't know as I haven't read a post there in months.

In a-non's last post, he leveled yet another back-handed insult at us as living in denial. Quite ironic I thought. He should listen to the words of Bo Diddly: "Before you accuse me, take a look at yourself."

I am disgusted and will not comment further.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
