    Artguy: UP & DD

I recently toured three casinos in the UP and was quite disappointed in the penetration levels for DD games, especially since I was following up to date Trackjack Intelligence. I found the games at Bad River, Watersmeat and Harris to be cut 60-65% instead of the 70-75% I was hoping for. Is this a consistent trend throughout the UP or was this merely a periodic anomaly?

If you know of any dd games with good penetration in the UP, please indicate that they do, in fact, exist and I will keep on searching further east (no names please).

    good cards...

    That's about right.

Since I furnished the pen information on some of the casinos you mentioned I decided to review my reports. First Trackjack lists the DD game at Watersmeet at pen of 65% with + or -10% variability. This is right in line with what you found. The pen at Watersmeet can vary greatly depending on the dealer. It can range anywhere from about 53% to 76%.

The Trackjack report for Bad River casino is not my report but I supplied CBJN with pen information on this game when I was there last fall. At that time the pen was at 75% which is in line with what Trackjack reports. I don't think the +10% pen listed in Trackjack is justified, but I do remember the pen at Bad River was better than Watersmeet.

The Trackjack report for Harris is also not my report and I question if the pen is as good as its reported in Trackjack. The last time I was at Harris was in May of 2001 and the report thats in CBJN is my report. At that time I reported .9 decks unseen for the double deck game and all the rumors I hear about Harris is that they cut off about a deck on DD. I don't know for sure since I haven't been there for a long time. I suggest you submit a new report for Trackjack if any of the pens you found were way out of line.

PS Go east. You might like what you find and maybe even meet Ouchez.

The drive from Wisc. this time of the year is deadly!

    Weather is very bad.

You are closer to hole in the wall? If so camp out there.

don't want to share. Artguy, just so you know I haven't ever won at Ouchez's hang out, but then again there is a casino out there I have never lost at.

However, Ouchez is right about the U. P. winter weather. It's no time to be traveling especially along M-28. Good games can be found in WI.

Thanks all for the advice. I will go to my favorite watering holes first and then decide whether to inch my way across on #2 towards Escanaba. I see that it is quite a trek over to SueMarie and the Macinaw Bridge; although, I have to say they both intrigue me...but enough to leave my hole?

Since I hate speaking in code and certain information can't be discussed, I wonder if more direct lines of communication couldn't be used...like I'm a registered subscriber with DD and TJ. They've got my numbers.
