    PunkEye: spanish21 enquiry

If you are playing with redoubling up to three times, and the House limit is $1K, then is it mathematically correct to never bet any amount that would cause you to exceed the stated limit on the thid double down? In effect you would be forced to double for less. In my view, this restriction would hurt the player.

I know the answer is to play multiple boxes.

But then again the actual answer is not to play it at all!

SP21 has been a huge boon to APs, and redouble is an extremely important rule.

EmeraldCityBJ won a post of the month over at bj21.com for his theory article on basic strategy changes forced by table limits on the redoubles.

My local casino has a $500 table limit, so my max bet is 3x$125 since they allow play on a maximum of 3 boxes. Still, try betting 1x$5 to 3x$125 at regular blackjack and see how long you last. I just finished a 6 hour session at Spanish 21 doing that. The tap comes a lot later at Spanish 21 than at regular blackjack.

    Good luck.

Ok but my next question would be, "why are you playing on a $5 table in the first place?" You have to contend with all the goddamned fleas and you don't get in enough hands per hour.

The game is even better by using a non-reckoned count system.

Civilians cannot be avoided where I currently play as there is only one table of Spanish 21 in the casino. So I have to play at odd hours to try to avoid them. The casino will not raise the minimum. Such is life.
