Sleepwalker: Two hands advantage and when

When playing 2DK (s17, DOA, no DAS pen70%)Is it more advantageous to play two hands at lower counts, mid counts , or high counts?

I typically begin play with two hands and bailout to one on a low count. I will also switch to one hand at +2 using a 1-4 spread.

Should I consider staying with two hands as the count moves up or down?

Playing heads up it is optimal to play 1 hand. This is because the amount you bet each round is more precisely calculated. It's like using a balance to weigh an object where your reference weights are either 1 or 2 grams. You will get a more precise measurement with 1 gram. Similarly, you will have a more precise bet when you get more betting decisions per 2 decks.

Of course the answer is not so straightforward. People play 2 bets for better camouflage, except now it goes along with wearing a hat, moving your lips, etc... counter giveaways. Equal bets on each hand add to the giveaway.

Other considerations - spreading to multiple hands when you know the shuffle card is about to come out = better penetration. Constantly changing the amount of hands you play to irritate others at the table into leaving. Catching an ace, if you believe in it. Etc., etc.

But the straightforward answer to counting is play 1 hand (or no hands) in all situations where the shoe EV is negative. Play 2 hands in all +EV shoe situations with multiple opponents, 1 hand heads up.
