• Casinos are writing the rules for casinos

I find this article disturbing. It appears that states new to casino gambling, without the experience in regulating casinos, are basically letting the casinos write their own rules. Casinos aren't the best example of trustworthy businesses.

How is it going to change the nature of the games that people will see on the floor when they visit these casinos?

Casino regs control what a casino can and cannot do. For example, in Atlantic City, casinos cannot bar counters. They must have certain numbers of tables of certain limits during certain hours. There are limitations on rules offered. There are reporting requirements. They have had limitations on hours they are open. Number of hotel rooms of what grade required to open a casino. Licensing requirements.

What about for tax purposes? Will they get to write their own tax code in regards to the state the casinos will be operating in?

Not directly. It's the job of the lobbyists to influence legislative issues..

The worse being the Indian casinos. I worked as a Dealer/Trainer at the biggest one in MN for over a decade. It was/is a nightmare for customers. They are regulated by their own "gaming commission" - like the fox regulating the ah....fox. Cards in high stakes were taken out of decks on the bigger tables, dealers were asked to dump cards in the middle of a shoe if it was losing and they were paranoid about card counters - so much so that basically anyone winning more than 5K was labeled as one, and eventually kicked out. We trained in security to the basics of card counting, so basically guys off the street with little knowledge of the game were kicking out customers. Unregulated, and crooked as they come.

So dealer, what specifically did you guys/gals train in, in regards to dealers being able to detect card counting?
