What games are you playing for an advantage?

Seems that folks are spreading to other games.

You can vote for more than one game in this poll.

About a week and a half ago I caught a renege in a spades game that I wasn't even involved in or paying attention to. I just walked up to the game and within three books I caught the foul, the other 3 players didn't even catch it and were completely clueless to the fact. I had to point it out to them. Knowing that it was book 8 or 9 and since the Ace of Spades was lead out I would say that the guy reneging was trying to cheat the other players on purpose because he had TWO other spades in his hand!

A little bit of blackjack. Starting to go primarily Video Poker and other machines type play. Will play other table games if the conditions are favorable, but I'm not actively searching for such games.

I am in the market but you can hardly call it advantage play even though I do a lot better than most people. I could discuss it more but that would likely start things down one of Norm's forbidden paths. I will save him the headache of dealing with the responses my post would likely generate. The short version is you have to be pretty connected to actually play the markets as an advantage player true to what I call an AP. There are not many of those types out there. Many who were good at the market switched to casinos because the market is too much of a gamble and they knew they didn't have the connections to be a market AP.

I'm curious to find out the reasoning behind the usage of the word "connections" here.

To be an "AP" in the market, you need to know a few things.

    1. When is the best time to buy and sell
    2. What type of economic/political news might affect a given stock pricing or the market pricing as a whole
    3. Buy low, sell high :P

The market isn't nearly as "complicated" as APBJ is by comparison, you just have less control in your actions, and your actions need to follow a more uniform pattern of intention, and you have to be willing to "hang in there".

As we know, ZK, this forums' "king" of the stock advice has been pumping ELTP for god knows how long, and earlier this year I told him (after a slight rise in ELTP stock) that his price would see the teens again before the end of the year. As of its last close (at 20 cents per share) it had to rally the last few hours to get back out of trading at 18 cents per share.

Which brings me to another really good point. Don't invest in penny stocks, and if you have to, make sure you are trading on a margin account, of which you'll likely never be able to do in the penny stock world.

The best entry level advice you'll ever get in regards to the markets is this. "Stick to what you know, and forget about the investment".

Back to the thread poll for a moment:

APBJ obviously is my #1 thing, but as some know I'm kind of a "high roller" at my local joints so I've figured out a few quirks on an extremely specific set of slot types to where I can run at an almost "net neutral ev" while I maintain "points" for my "status". It isn't VP, as I don't play VP, but VP is something I've thought about looking into for quite some time, I just never had a whole lot of experience with it previously to warrant such an effort. I'll probably have to "get some experience" pretty soon as the locals have started "phasing out" the "slots" that I play for my "net neutral ev" to maintain points, and I've started growing quite fond of my "eat here, sleep here, drink here, its on us" red carpet treatment.

The simple fact of the matter is right now, I can eat/drink for free 365 days out of the year, and sleep 1/4th of the year there, on them. If I had just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit bigger BR to play with, I'd honestly consider dropping everything and turning this into a real "full time" affair while I'm still young, and start traveling around the nation as the place I am playing now is a "chain" type place that has locations all over the US.

Lately I've really been mulling over the idea of taking trips into PA for their advantageous rules and haven't quite been able to "nail down" a schedule to do so since I've been so busy lately, especially this time of year.

I am not going to trolled into going were Norm doesn't want the conversation to go. If you don't know what I am talking about you will get hit by the next engineered crash that the connected people "luckily" make the right moves just prior to happening and reinvest at fire sale prices. Those that hung in there got screwed and those that panic sold after the crash got hurt even worse.

I don't think I've ever placed a bet on baccarat. Otherwise, I think I've played every game in the house.

I do some intermediate to long-term value investing in the markets.

There's no trolling here, and I'm still convinced in the football thread that you have me confused with ZK's trolling, but either way, what you "know" or have to "share" has likely been talked about hundreds of thousands of times and is certainly public knowledge. Its impossible for me to ascertain what you're alluding to with such vague responses, however.

Hell, the only thing I"m "getting" from your post is insider trading, which we both know is highly illegal and I'd expect such a respected man such as yourself wouldn't be involved in. So obviously you're leaving something rather "important" out of the details and allowing others, like myself, to momentarily suspect insider trading. I don't think that's the image you want projected here.

Your signature reminds me of an old joke:

Indian Boy: Father, how did you and mother choose the names of my sister, brother and I?
Father: Well son, when each of you were born, we would roll back the tent flap and the first thing your mother saw determined your name. She looked out across the prairie and saw a mother deer with her baby so your sister was named "Little Fawn".
I see said the boy, and what about my brother?
Well said the father, when the tent flap was thrown back, your mother looked outside and saw two bull elk fighting so of course she named your brother "Fighting Elk".
    I see said the boy.
The old indian looked down at his son and said "And why do you ask "Two Dogs Screwing?"
