You know whether you are stressed or not. The Dr doesn't have a clue about your mental state. If a person were to smoke and get hemorrhoids the Dr would swear it was from smoking. It is possible you have a stomach ulcer but as to what caused it, he is just shooting in the dark.

Thats what happens when you eat all day and live like modern society teaches us to. First thing you should do is stop going to doctors, most of them are just puppets to big pharma and they will just prescribe you drugs that you don't need and that will only negatively affect you long term. The ones who are not puppets are just plain ignorant, and lean on what they learned through their literature in med school, which is continually proved false by any legitimate scientist not being paid off by pharma. Also I hope you guys realize, that not all clinical studies are legitimate and that there are scientists being paid off by pharma to get the results that they want to induce the public on what drugs to take. Don't believe me? Get involved in the pharma industry and see for yourself how it really works.

You want to never be sick again? You want to never have cancer, diabetes, or all these bullshit diseases? Start fasting every day and allow your body to detox from all the shi$ you take in on a daily basis from the food you eat, the water you drink, and the air you breathe. There's no such thing as diseases, what does exist is vitamin deficiency and a lack of detox on a daily basis. Bad bacteria at the cellular level that is no flushed out of the body accumulates to the point that people get sick or even worse develop a serious disease such as cancer. By fasting every day, you activate a natural process in the body called autophagy, which in layman terms is a destruction process of all the unhealthy cells that no longer serve a purpose in your body and get eliminated from your body. Looking at today's society, no one ever gets that type of detox on a daily basis, let alone annually, which explains why everyone is constantly sick, and develop things such as cancer. Doctors are always quick to point out, oh you have a tumor growing here, or you have CANCER, but he never explains what cancer actually is, but what they will tell you is, "when do you want to start your chemo"? The amount of garbage we are exposed to in terms of chemicals and bacteria every day, should scare anyone, and if you're not detoxing, I seriously feel bad for you.

To conclude, start fasting daily anywhere from 18-24 hours, you'll be surprised how much healthier you will feel and notice that fasting is not just about preventing sickness, the hunger you used to have was all out of habit and that you don't even get hungry anymore. I could go into the details of why you dont have the same hunger anymore but I would rather not go into several more paragraphs, but if you want to research why, it has to do with the hormone called ghrelin and leptin sensitivity. You will also not see any negative effects in your energy, but will instead actually see an increase in energy as you will not be bogged down by food all day. No food and being in a fasted state means insulin is low, growth hormone is up, and if growth hormone is up, adrenaline is up. You will also want to be exercising in a fasted state around the same time before you break your fast for substantial hormonal long term benefits to your body. Your daily fast should always be at least 16 hours but if you do a 20 hour fast, you can do your workout anywhere between 16-20 hours and then break your fast right after your workout with a big meal.

By fasting, not only will you be activating autophagy and never get sick, but you will maintain a healthy weight throughout your whole life, as your body will learn to burn bodyfat as fuel rather than the modern society diet, where we never let ourselves go 2-3 hours without food, thereby only burning carbs for fuel and taxing our digestive tract, which can also explain all the auto-immune diseases we also have now. Also because you will most likely have only one meal a day, a nice big meal, calories will always be in check and it will increase insulin sensitivity, so you can also say goodbye to diabetes. You will also see complete reduction in blood pressure to healthy baseline levels if you were on the high side and you can also say goodbye to high cholesterol as cholesterol has been proven to be lowered through fasting. So much for doctors right? But what do I know, keep taking those pills, and that cough medicine.

Severe losses always produced stress which manifested itself in the form of a case of shingles that lasted for weeks.

Did he test for H. pylori? Interviewing you about your lifestyle doesn't gain much useful info as stress is no longer considered a major cause. Of course, I'd get the endoscopy.

Common medications, especially those used for pain control, are associated with ulcers. I'd be sure to discuss that with my doctor.

Norm is right, the leading cause of upper GI ulcer is H. pylori, not stress. Your doc apparently not well informed. A trip to Gastroenterology specialist is in order. Meantime, do what you like, do what you do best.

Stress also usually causes high blood pressure when it causes physical problems. How is your pressure? Are you already medicated or would this be an added indicator for stress?

My diet and other daily routine type stuff is not the norm so I won't bother you with my history. I will say stress has caused high blood pressure and the anxiety of losing a close loved one along with job security issues causes stress. When I went through it I became anxious and had other intermittent physical manifestations of stress.

So far as stress from casinos, the dietary change and everything else has me feeling subpar for a few days after a multi-day trip. I think its the smoke and food but there could be a lot of other things that could cause this feeling. I am a gourmet chef that cooks the food I like tat best matches my health needs. On the road the food is not as good, even at the top end places, and is full of things I eat almost nothing of. I also tend to eat less often per day which causes great stress on your system unless you have convinced your body you live in a food deficit area. Then you won't be affected as much short term but in later life you will have lots more health issues.

Current recommendations for primary prevention of hypertension involve a population-based approach and an intensive targeted strategy focused on individuals at high risk for hypertension. These 2 strategies are complementary and emphasize 6 approaches with proven efficacy for prevention of hypertension: engage in moderate physical activity; maintain normal body weight; limit alcohol consumption; reduce sodium intake; maintain adequate intake of potassium; and consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products and reduced in saturated and total fat. Applying these approaches to the general population as a component of public health and clinical practice can help prevent blood pressure from increasing and can help decrease elevated blood pressure levels for those with high normal blood pressure or hypertension.

The above two articles are not hard to read, just read the first few sentences of the beginning paragraph, skip the detail. All told, HBP is human life time risk with the women in 86-90%, man in 81-83%. Among many risk factors, stress is not one of them.

Also, just a little paranoia spill over from my help thread in the Software forum (excuse the unprecedented use, for my posting history, of emoticons), here's a friendly caution.

Avoid any mention of your situation (potential ulcer, stomach problems, doctor, hours being cut) to anyone save for people you would absolutely trust with your livelihood on the line. The information in this thread probably isn't enough for anyone to identify you, but if you made it painfully obvious to someone who has/is/will read this forum that around this date you were going through this, someone who has the motive and ability to work against you, will. The chance of something bad happening even if you do spew this part of your life around is probably still low, but why take the risk when there's nothing to gain?

Intermittent fasting is what you need, as well as everyone in this modern society. You will thank me later. Of course don't try it until you normalize any blood sugar levels

ZenKinG I am interested in the fasting you mentioned in your first post. Do you know where I might read up on the subject.
