I think the word "caught" should not be used in this context. "Caught" implies wrongdoing. Absent collusion with a dishonest dealer, there is nothing wrong with hole carding. It is a perfectly legal and appropriate method of skillful play. Yes, casino personnel often react negatively, no different than they do to other forms of skillful play. They do not want winning players. Some inept casino folks take holecarding personally, possibly because it exposes the casino's poor training and/or supervision.
