The first one is better. It is simple and will allow you to keep side counts of A's, Red 7's and Black 8's. Don't change!

What's the name of the first one? I've never seen a count with those tags. Anyway, you are much more error prone using that count and you'll tire out quicker using it.

The second is without a doubt much simpler but not as strong. That isn't to say it's half as good -- it's probably only a few % lower than the first. But you could play many more hours without tiring out and much fewer errors using it.

IMO, the second would be better to learn and master.

wow , (the first one is some serious numbers ) whole number near-replicas of eors? .... , awesome .... im sure thats super powerful if you have the way to tc it and index ....be a real difficult thing to try .... no matter what you do , you have to have exact knowledge of at what point you have a mathematical advantage in the given game and when to raise your bets . that's the real essense of this art... welcome ...

Your question, in analogy form, is whether you should start out playing golf by purchasing the most expensive golf set around. Since there are full time AP's playing simpler counts than either of the two, why not consider a simpler count, like HiLo or Reko or KO etc.? Once you have had actual playing experiences and know you can handle the simpler counts, progress to the level 2 or level 3 counts.

it is hard enough with a simpler count to not stare at the cards or lose your count because another player wants to make conversation with you. It's only after you have become comfortable, you might try those counts.

Neither. I think Hi-Lo is the best thing to start with. Maybe KO if you don't feel like doing deck estimation, or Halves/RAPC if you want to get fancy and play shoes, or Hi Opt II if you want to get really fancy and you play pitch.

Like ZeeBabar said, you're trying to start playing golf by learning to hit a $1000 forged 1-iron, so you can drop a shot onto the green from 259 yards out into the wind with a slight draw and proper backspin. You should start with a set of $100 used edge-weighted irons so you can learn how to hit the middle of the ball, and land on a fairway.
