Can't win at the casino. Can't win on CVBJ.

What the heck is going on I don't know! I know my game is right on with CVBJ and it should be in the casino. I've won only two sessions in almost the last three months. AAAAAHHHHHHH!

    Anyway. Onward I guess.

I'll tell you what's wrong-- the standard deviation is not a respecter of persons. Anyone, no matter how proficient can run into what seems like inexplicable bad luck. I've heard people here say that they sometimes felt the house must be cheating them. That's exactly what it feels like. In saner moments (it WILL drive you crazy) I realized that no one was cheating me, and the gods were not hurling lightning bolts at me, it's just one of the many possibilities, and the more you play the more chance you have to bump into one of these unwelcome streaks. Why me? I don't know-- I guess it has to happen to someone-- why not me?

I think that's what it is. I was also thinking that the casinos were cheating somehow.

Last week I played in a game where the dealer got a 2 card 20 quite a lot, and when I got the 20 she would get blackjack or draw to 21. I had 9 double downs and won 2 of them. I won one high count bet - one! Pen was good, and there was one other player. Sometimes it's just not your day, and that really sucks.

This makes me think of two lines:
    2 is the dealer's ace!
There are other players at the table?

There is one scenario you probably have experienced in which you know the casino is not cheating. What happens is that the count goes positive and sure enough the big cards and aces begin to fall... but not on you. you are part of the reason the count stays plus. Your mindset gets to where you begin to anticipate getting a hard 15 followed by a brick, while you watch everyone else rake in on naturals, twenties and double downs. Even though the dealer may also get junk, you always lose because you must hit first, or if you get a hard 17, he hits his 5/4 catching a 6 (you hold your breath), 5, in that order. You say to yourself, "Yep, this is the one where everything is happening by the book, but I'm the one who's usually sitting next to me." What can you do? It's bound to happen every so often.

Just the other night, four hands in a row I got 15vT at a pretty good count with a good size bet out. Busted each time. Other player raking in the money when dealer busted. To add insult to the injury, he'd explain to me how to play the game - let the dealer bust!

In the end, you should win and the others should lose. Can't do anything about how the cards land. Just keep chugging along.

It's like the old adage that even a broken clock is right twice a day. That was one of those times.

Why a PM? A ploppy told me the secret the other day: "Just do everything the opposite of the book."

    I asked him. "Why?"

He replied, "Because the book was written by the casinos."

    Sounded logical to me.
