    US Exports vs Imports

    1992
    -39,312
    2013
    -476,000

That is in millions of dollars so it is -$476,000,000,000

The jobs left the US so there is not enough gambling money available to support all of the new casinos.

Gambling worth $240 Billion 1.7 Million jobs in 2013

Oxford Economic report. Link chosen, though other news sites because this one has report, fact sheet and methodology to review. Interesting comment that MGM's CEO says that in Vegas 70% of their revenue last year was NON-Gaming now.............That's a very high number in my mind and reflects how much things have changed where gambling DROVE the ship. No wonder comps reduced and play NOT as important.

Texas may not want to interfere with all the non-legal gambling that occurs in the state. Which is enormous.

Since Texas has been brought up......possible changes in store?

What I get from the article is some call them slot machines and that they will open the door to other gambling. But they appear to be machines that allow post race betting on races already run, with actual race description information withheld. If this isn't an opportunity for AP, I don't know what is. I'm no horse man or bettor BUT I know folks that remember and keep track of races over time religiously. Surely if they do this, some "intelligent" horse bettor is going to be able to use historical data to beat these machines, right?

Was in Ft. Worth this past weekend and this was front page news in paper.

Sort of like betting on a TV replay in football. Saw a drunk woman do it once (taking the wrong side).

NM, OK, and LA have been paying off Texas politicians for years to ensure that gambling is not legalized in Texas.

Well the money from OK is NOT from anyone BUT the tribes...........they sponsor things in Texas, too to get their name out. I've seen Chickasaw and Choctaw tribe advertising and sponsorships there. But they are NOT sponsoring or lobbying for gaming FOR SURE. If ANYONE has watched the expansion at WinStar and Choctaw Casino Durant, which are as big as anything outside Vegas or Atlantic City domestically, they will see that Texas has brought a lot of gambling money to those tribes (and trickle down effect to the State). LA even advertises their casinos in OK to get TEXANS to gamble there INSTEAD of OK. LOL

Has anyone else noticed any decline in mailers or advertising this quarter?

Nope. I read BP's post (i think) on how not to get in trouble with the by having non-gambling visits. I made the appropriate adjustments. If anything my offers have increased. Perhaps they are offering more to certain profiles and less to others based on the players theo to the casino on each visit.
