Casino Business in General--Is it finally at saturation point?

Looks like MGM getting their stake back in A/C........which means they can increase presence IF they want. Why, though? Ceasars STILL trying to restructure debt. Can't BELIEVE their stock went up today. And Macau may be facing 4th month in a row with gambling revenue decrease. Are we reaching saturation point?

Here on the west coast it seems like every town in California has a card room or a tribal casino... There is so much saturation that there is a moratorium on card room licenses until 2020. This can all change at the drop of a dime but it gives you an idea of how many choices you have for casinos.

Nevada is still Nevada. They still have a ton. But almost solely depend on tourists.

Washington and Oregon are becoming more and more populated with casinos as well.

    Arizona still is slowly growing.

I can't imagine when states like Texas or possibly Hawaii get in on the action.

This is good for the AP for several reasons. Not only do we now have so many stores to choose from and spread our play around to increase longevity, but also because casinos are losing business they will start trying many different ways to make their casino experience much better to outsiders to try and attract their business to come and play there. This could mean better games, better comps, better promos, possibly less heat, and an overall just better experience.

Im all for saturation as this will start to make casinos compete against each other to please the customer/gambler to come to their store rather than their competitors.

The East Coast is definitely oversaturated. Parts of the Midwest are over-saturated (Michigan) or reaching saturation.

Good time to be a card-counter, though.

Man, I sure hope so!! And if anything, the more I'm playing, the more I'm noticing that people JUST don't know how to play BJ even with basic. And general public LOVES the side bets! I think more exposure has gotten more people to try to play but that doesn't mean very well. The normal player (or more typical player in Vegas) seems to know basic (even at lower level minimum tables (is there such a thing in Vegas?) than the people I see around here. But then though we have the fastest growing state for gaming revenue percentage wise, the existence of casinos or proliferation of casinos is a relatively NEW phenomenon. Just a few years old but has it changed things!!

People are playing blackjack just so they can get the side bets down. It's not like they're playing with any discernable strategy; flat bet, play all seems to be the norm.

At least some of them are countable.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Yep, and they sure do like to call out the ones not playing the side bets! Arghh

The best ones play on my side bet! I love those, they even toke me sometimes. LOL

And if one of those hands hits, they will look at you like you like you're Adolf Hitler. "OH MY GOD, DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH MONEY THAT IS?!"

I get that a lot. They sure have selective memory. I don't hit it anymore than anyone else but they always think I have the lucky seat and it burns that I am not playing the side bet.

Its when big cities start getting casinos (not tribal ones out in the countryside) and casinos designated in a walkable area that even Las Vegas will get hurt. Right now, in CA or many other states, most folks get to one casino and then they are stuck there, ploppies I mean. It's only when a bunch are bunched together and are actually competing, that rules will get favorable and the challenge to keep them inside your casino will lead to better conditions.

Not sure how to take this story........It seems a little inconsistent between headline and text of story. Talks about decrease in revenue but numbers are higher? Maybe it's taking out the new casino Margaritaville's play into the equation. But in any event, another gambling area with concentrated casinos that is talking about revenue decline.

I'm with O. There may be new casinos coming on line. But they will continue to offer crappy BJ rules and penetration. Then they will entice with the side bets. And the uber-ploppies will continue to berate players by pointing out how much money THEY COULD HAVE WON had they made the side bet while they stand on their H16s.
